The Cold Champ is hard to hide: in summer they stay in the closet. These are gloves of the sturdier kind. Resistant to everything that comes at them. That's how they feel and that's how they look.
The Thinsulate® lining and GORE-TEX membrane ensure that your hands won't suffer from the cold or moisture, and they also let your hands breathe at all times. The back of the hand - usually the first place that gets cold despite everything - received an extra layer of Thermoplush Fleece inside.
The outside consists of a judicious mix of materials. The goat leather on the palm is very soft and provides a good steering feel and a secure grip. The back is made of Taslan for extra durability. The SuperFabric reinforcements on the mouse of the hand give it that extra bit of durability. Also the side of the hand has been given extra attention when it comes to fall protection. The knuckle protector is - just like the plastic finger protectors - hidden under the leather outer layer.
With heavy winter gloves you inevitably make concessions in the field of mobility, although Held tried to compensate for that by integrating stretch panels on the back of the hand. The base of the fingers and the thumb also maintain a certain range thanks to the accordion panels.
The shaft of the Cold Champ reaches well to the wrist and thanks to the wide Velcro strip you can choose whether you prefer to wear the glove inside or above the jacket. Just below the hand is the actual closure, in the form of a 'tunnelstrap', a covered velcro strap.
The subtle and during the day hardly noticeable 3M-Scotchlite reflection strips ensure that you remain visible in the evening and at night. Winter weather and waterproof gloves go hand in hand, but the Cold Champ seems to be able to cope with most of it.
The left index finger is equipped with a visor wiper to keep your screen drip free.
