The AR link is a type of locking link for motorcycle chains. The locking links of the AR type are always closed with a clip and require some force to put together. For assembly, the side plate must first be pushed over the pins. The clip can then be pushed into place with, for example, a pair of pliers. The head of the pin of this type of link does not require flattening. A riveting tool not needed. This type of link is only used on chains of scooters, mopeds and very light motorcycles.
After lubrication, the locking link can be closed with the side plate. Use appropriate tools and measure the distance between the outer plates of the other links and those of the locking link with a calliper. Gradually press the side plate to its final position.
When the side plate is in place, first check that the locking link rotates freely and is not too tight or too loose. Only then the clip should be pushed into place. This type of link does not require riveting.
When fitting, the clipmust always be fitted with the closed part towards the direction of travel.
