The Optimate 4 Dual Program SAE 1A is the most advanced and trusted battery charger on the market today.
This3rd generation of the Optimate 4 incorporates all the benefits that made its predecessors so successful, i.e. automatic keyless activation and continuation of service until the charger is disconnected, safe low voltage pulse desulfation, and adds a few of its own. The even more efficient power circuit now delivers a 1 amp charging current, and improvements in the software control mean that charging is now even faster. In addition, the new visual LED instructions on the charger itself allow the user to follow the charging process at a glance.
The Optimate 4 Dual Program has two charging programs; the BMW CAN-bus program and the standard program. The BMW CAN-bus program charges and maintains the battery of any BMW motorcycle through the motorcycle's standard 12 volt DIN connection.
To make this connection, you need the optional O-02 DIN plug .
When using the BMW CAN-bus program, the Optimate sends a signal to the BMW CAN-bus system that "opens" the 12V connection to charge the battery. When you connect the Optimate to your BMW motorbike in the standard program, the Optimate does not send a signal and the 12 volt DIN connection remains "closed" and the battery will not be charged.
With the standard program you charge and maintain all motorcycle batteries with the supplied permanent battery connection or the crocodile clips.
If your motorcycle has a 12V connection (a DIN or a cigarette lighter connection), you can use this cable.
Note: check whether the 12 V connection is connected directly to the battery. How to check this? Connect an accessory to the socket with the ignition switched OFF, and check if the accessory is working and/or recharging.
A Ducati motorcycle can be connected with this optional cable.
