The HJC RPHA-70 is the successor to the popular RPHA-ST. In designing the RPHA-70, HJC adopted some of the key features of the RPHA-11, creating a more sport-touring oriented helmet.
The helmet shell is composed according to the P.I.M Plus method, Premium Integrated Matrix Plus. This method uses fiberglass, aramid and carbon to obtain a very light, but very solid helmet shell. The different helmet sizes of this helmet are divided into 3 different helmet shells.
On the chin, 3 vents are provided: 2 closable ones that blow directly on the inside of the visor to prevent fogging, and a closable one that provides fresh air directly to the rider. On top of the helmet there is a large lockable top ventilation and 2 lockable air vents. At the back of the head there are 2 more non-closable air outlets. The ventilations and air outlets are connected by the 'ACS' system (Advanced Channeling Ventilation System). These are integrated air channels in the inner shell that distribute the fresh air over the entire head of the rider.
The RPHA -70 comes standard with a transparent visor made from scratch-resistant material. Thanks to the RapidFire Shield Replacement System, the visor can be replaced easily and without tools, possibly by a visor in another color. The visor is equipped for the installation of a Skipfog lens, which comes standard with the helmet. The visor can also be locked in the closed position. A treatment on the outside of the visor with Rain-X anti-rain spray improves visibility during rain showers. In addition to the normal visor, the RPHA-70 also has an internal sun visor, which can be easily operated from the bottom left side of the helmet, even when wearing gloves.
The chinstrap of the RPHA-70 closes with a Double-D ring buckle, the only buckle permitted for use on the race track. In the event of an emergency, the emergency services can more easily remove the helmet thanks to the Emergency Cheek Pads. These are cheek pads that can be removed easily with the helmet on. Once the cheek pads are removed, the helmet can be taken off the head much more easily.
The interior of the RPHA-70 is made of Multicool fabric and is treated with Polygene technology. This allows for an even better moisture removal, while the superior anti-bacterial action prevents unpleasant odors. The interior is removable and hand washable.
Inside, RPHA-70 is equipped with a breathable reflector, to prevent fogging of the visor.
Cutouts at the temples give the RPHA-70 a very goggle-friendly fit.
In some countries (e.g., France) it is mandatory to equip your helmet with reflective stickers. The RPHA-70 comes without these reflective decals. Reflective sticker sets can be found here.
Maintenance tips:
- Reluctant to disassemble the interior of your helmet to wash it? You can also clean the interior without removing it with S100 Helmet Interior Cleaner.
- The outside and the visor of your helmet should be cleaned with S100 Helmet and visor cleaner.
Safety above all! Never ride with a scratched or dull visor. Especially at night, scratches cause blinding reflections of street lights and headlights of oncoming vehicles. This effect is even more pronounced in rainy weather. It is best to replace a dull visor as soon as possible. Planning a long trip? Then don't forget to take a replacement visor with you. Never ride in the dark with a tinted visor.
