If you find yourself in a ‘trench’, you’d better be well-equipped. Take the Trench GTX, for example, a highly versatile and fashionable motorcycle jacket for long distances, urban travel, and 365 days of riding pleasure.
The Trench features the best of REV'IT's technical capabilities, and will be of use anywhere and anytime. If you're heading for the Sahara, there are better options, but that's the only limitation. The appearance is in line with that philosophy, because the Trench GTX is more neutral and stylish than 'pure adventure' and that makes it just that little bit more unbiased. Because not all of them are adventure-bikes with studded tires.
The Sahara comment above has a lot to do with the laminated GORE-TEX membrane that is attached to the outside of the Trench GTX. 'Laminated' specifically means there is no way water can get in and the boundary is really on the outside. This means no water-absorbing outer fabric, no heavy, spongy jacket, no extra weight and a jacket that dries very quickly after a shower. Although breathable, that of course slows down the most advanced and extreme ventilation and that's why for a ride through the desert you better look for something else.
Other than that, there are no restrictions. On the outside, the Trench consists entirely of 2L GORE-TEX fabric. Waterproof and breathable, it will not chill you to the bone on winter rides. On the other hand, you always have the removable thermal lining at your disposal if you find it a little chilly. You see: the all-round usability of the Trench has a slight focus on less favorable weather conditions.
Although you can get by on warm days as well. The VCS|Aquadefence is a ventilation system that can also be found in the Poseidon 2 GTX - another all-rounder. Patented by REV'IT, it consists of vents with FidLock® magnetic closure. You can easily close it with one hand while riding. The 'aquadefence' consists of a 'gutter' around the vent, preventing moisture from entering. At the back there are two outlets. Not a lot of zippers and ventilation slots, but as said: the Trench GTX is already breathable to a very large degree and that is more than enough for Western, Eastern, Northern and even a large part of Southern Europe.
Be careful: the strong magnets do not go well with pacemakers, so ask about it when in doubt.
The Trench GTX got a touring cut, with a back that is more spacious, as expected. You center the jacket on the hips with an extra press button. The straps with a buckle at the forearms are also used to adjust the Trench individually. Sleeve ends (velcro), collar (flexisnap) and waist (adjustment cord) are the other options. And although you won't be going on a world tour with this, you can take a lot with you in the spacious, lockable pockets. Besides the two closable and visible pockets on the outside, you can also count on an inner pocket and two pockets in the removable thermo lining.
The Trench is standard equipped with SEEFLEX™ Level 2 CE protection on shoulders and elbows. The back has been prepared for the integration of an optional SEESOFT™ CE-level 2 back protector, and if desired a SEESOFT™ CE-level 1 chest protector can also be integrated. The typical laminated reflection on the back and sleeves ensures you stay visible at night. The Trench is made to be combined with the Connector HV fluorescent vest.
Thanks to the short and long connecting zipper, you can combine this with the right pants. And although 'right' may be different for everyone, the Poseidon 2 GTX pants are a good choice anyway.
