The Macna Dry Cooling vest EVO; that suggests 'evolution'. Rightly so, because this is a slightly - practically - modified continuation of the original Dry Cooling vest. Based on suggestions by customers.
The only change is the way of closing the water container of the EVO: the original cap was experienced as annoying by some users, so the EVO got a ziplock system to close the water container. Think of the ziplock bags.
The Macna Dry Cooling vest EVO does exactly what the name says, it cools the wearer without getting wet. The "getting wet" is the biggest difference with other cooling jackets, because they have to be immersed in water and thus make the wearer wet. The Macna Dry Cooling vest is filled with half a liter of tap water, but the inside and outside of the jacket remain dry.
The Dry Cooling vest EVO is worn over a T-shirt and underneath the motorcycle jacket. The warmth of the wearer and the outside air make the water in the Dry Cooling vest evaporate through the outer wall of the vest. The evaporation process draws heat from the environment and thus cools the body of the wearer. The resulting water vapor is removed by the air flow. A summer jacket is therefore definitely an advantage. Even when the water volume is at its highest, the complete jacket never weighs more than one kilogram.
Tips from the RAD house
- We recommend that during and after filling the jacket, you ensure that the water is distributed in the jacket by applying pressure here and there.
- Use water at room temperature. Cold water slows down the evaporation effect. There is no point in pouring more than half a liter of water into the jacket. This reduces cooling efficiency.
- We recommend using the same size as your T-shirt or at most one size bigger.
- When fully loaded, the Dry Cooling vest has the capacity to cool for up to three days, depending on the temperature of course.
- After riding, let the vest dry out completely before storing it.
- The vest can be machine washed, provided this is done in the supplied protective cover.
