The Madoc is a sporty, rather wintery glove. Waterproof GORE-TEX®, a knitted and tightly fitting cuff, light and yet protective ... many trumps, that much is certain.
The outer surface of this glove, which appears strangely short but extends far is a combination of elastic textile (back) and goatskin leather (palm). That creates a tight, snug-feeling glove that still gives you a lot of wear-resistance without having to compromise on grip. The lining used is very light and certainly does not feel too thick, but the Madoc has a tight knitted cuff which immediately provides a warmer feeling. Of course, temperatures far below zero are too much of a good thing, but in the latest Belgian winters the Madoc could have served for a long time. Especially because this is GORE-TEX. The membrane with the best breathability and waterproof capacities on the market is a very big surplus value.
Protective material: check. Plenty of it. With a hard knuckle protector in plastic, Teramide on the palm of the hand, a reinforced side and pinky and foam on the fingers. It effortlessly delivers an EN13594:2015 certification.
On the wrist you keep the Madoc anchored by means of a velcro strip, but as said the tight cuff also provides an extra stable base and tight fit. Reflective material in the form of the Held logo on the little finger and eight stripes on the back of the hand ensure good visibility in poor conditions.
As you'd expect from a glove of this caliber, you can easily use them to operate your smartphone without any problems, after you have already wiped your visor clean.
