The MACNA Combat seems - fully worthy of the name - to have taken inspiration from the military world. Apart from that visual wink, it remains a full-fledged and high quality textile jacket.
Admittedly, a jacket that will be used in better weather conditions. You can feel that this is not a winter jacket. Neither is it a world traveler. Custom, a touch of retro, a nod to the café racers and the homebrew projects in an urban context, that is the world in which this Combat is at its best.
The exterior of the Combat is cotton. Clean and clear. It seems that a bit of wax has been used although we assume that the (stretchy) elastane, and especially the Aramid reinforcement that's woven into everything, will also have something to do with that. It results in a very ordinary feeling motorcycle jacket. The mesh lining enhances the wearing comfort.
The Combat is a fabric men's jacket that can be found in any 'ordinary' clothing store. The hoody - of course easily removable - is excellent camouflage. At the back, the hood can be fastened by means of a button which prevents you from looking like you're carrying a mini-parachute when you're clacking through the first gears of your café racer after a red light. Other notable features are the Coat hanger (to carry the extra weight of the bike jacket), the key ring in the front, the Belt Loop and the two shoulder straps. The sleeve ends, with the very specific 'cuff straps', are a successful combination of functionality and style.
Impact protection on the Combat consists of standard Betac CE-level 1 protectors on the shoulders and elbows. The optional CE-certified back protector in size XL back protector can be fitted. It's hard to ignore the four (actually six) front pockets. With an inner pocket as well it becomes hard to be short of storage space.
The MACNA Combat is a very specific motorcycle jacket that does not limit itself to just the motorcycle. The combination with a good pair of motorcycle jeans is obvious.
