This ankle-high successor of the Trek 2 is wider and looks a lot more fashionable. At first sight, nobody will suspect a full-fledged motorcycle shoe, but all the necessary features are there. The Patrol is available in three different colours.
With an integrated High-Tex® membrane and the oiled leather outside, it's a pretty good deal as far as moisture is concerned. A small note: 'waterproof', in the sense of 'keeping feet dry under water' is something different. An ankle-high shoe close to the ground and just behind the front wheel, can hardly be called 100% waterproof. Although, the occasional shower will not be a problem. For the rest, the Patrol mainly looks like a hiking shoe, and its light weight and high degree of flexibility will undoubtedly allow you to take a firm step into the world. The toe and heel are naturally reinforced and the D3O® ankle cup is incorporated underneath the leather on both sides. Together, this ensures full yet discreet impact protection. The leather - abrasion resistant - has stitching that will give you absolute peace of mind.
We already wrote: this looks like a hiking shoe (think 'Timberland and co') although you won't find any shifting reinforcement on those. The Patrol does, but it's relatively discreet and present on both shoes.
The Patrol is closed by means of laces. At the back there is a pull tab, under which discrete reflective elements can be seen. The lip of the shoe forms a continuous whole with the front, which has a positive influence on waterproofness. The vulcanised rubber sole keeps both feet firmly on the ground at all times.
The Patrol is obviously not a racing boot that should be used on track. This is an ankle-high motorcycle shoe that you can easily step into after a morning ride to work. Light, comfortable, flexible and trouble-free to wear all day, this is a safe alternative for those who want to get on their bikes with a high dose of fashion-awareness and practicality.
The higher the fashion level - and the level of ‘we don’t really look like motorcycle shoes’ -, the smaller the chance your leather shoes have a full-fledged shifting reinforcement. No problem on a scooter but on a motorbike, the multitude of shifting will quickly cause wear and tear. A shame of the leather shoes because this “wear and tear” will not often be incorporated in the warranty conditions.
You’d better take precautions, give yourself a hand or a foot in this case and add an extra layer to your leather motorcycle shoe or your gear lever. There are a number of options available in our range.
