A modern application in a retro jacket, that's what the Oxford Heritage bags are. Those who call their products 'heritage' combine respect for tradition with contemporary functionality.
This backpack - with a capacity of 30 liters - can hardly hide its origins. Kaki (there is also a black version), with prominent straps and buckles, in typical British cotton with a dry wax finish, this backpack will never look out of place on a retro, custom, classic, chopper or café racer. On a Panigale or superbike, we wouldn't do that ourselves, but of course everyone is free to choose.
Anyway, with a removable waterproof lining in the central bag, you can be sure that whatever bike you ride, your luggage will stay dry. The orange color of the lining contrasts with the khaki and rugged Heritage exterior, a nod to a time when sailcloth was pretty much the best outdoor material. Oxford's sense of tradition translates into details such as the bags' 'flag seams' and traditional roll closure. The leather finish where needed and the metal-colored buckles, rings and hooks give the whole thing a sturdy and very solid look.
The storage space consists of one large waterproof compartment. Roll it up and close it with two extra straps and buckles, it's still a good guarantee for dry stuff. A smaller - to be zipped up and closed with buttons - compartment in the front leaves some extra options open.
Of course, a backpack should be tight and snug around your shoulders, and the two wide, padded straps make sure of that. With a crossover belt at chest level and an extra waist belt, you actually have everything you need. It's nice that - despite all the vintage - the parts you'll use most often just got modern sliding and click buckles in plastic. Looking good is one thing, being convenient is another.
You can make this handy size - 30 liters is still manageable - (again, that roll-up system) as small as you want.
