With the half-long Max Sport GTX, Daytona presents a motorcycle boot that has its best assets hidden in the base and even seems to keep scoring like that. No coincidence, because the waterproof Max Sport GTX is a steady, easy and comfortable motorbike boot.
Of course, they protect. Reliably. To start, the short shaft expands over many army boots, which means that the ankles benefit from the motorbike-specific features. In the front, there is even room to spare for a shin protector in latex foam. Less visible but equally prominent are the innersole that’s been reinforced with plastic and a galvanised steel reinforcement, the ankle cup and the toe protectors.
The entire interior is ‘sturdy’ which is not coincidentally placed between quotation marks: a special foam with open cells and an intermediate sole made of polyurethane foam create a sort of all-round protective buffer. It gives the Max Sport GTX a robust appearance that surprisingly doesn’t hinder you from walking a mile or two. The soft rim at the top, the sturdy rubber sole and the pleasant fabric lining have a lot to do with that, just like the full-grain leather that makes up almost the entire exterior shell.
Stepping in and out of the Daytona is fun. Two zippers and a type of sock-in-shoe create a snug and secure accommodation for your feet, that will enjoy staying there. Not in the least because thanks to the rubber sole, they are elevated about 6 centimetres from what they are used to.
Gear panel, reflective elements in the back, the flap-with-shinbone reinforcement that allows you to adjust the shaft with Velcro, these are all pluses that turn this motorcycle boot into a very interesting option.
