The Hydra 2 H2O is an excellently insulated motorcycle glove, up to well on the wrist, with waterproof and breathable membrane. While its focus is on wet and cold commutes, this is still a successful effort to ensure comfort.
A rather neutral look and the striking construction with a knitted cuff under the actual motorcycle glove, are an indication of the urban, commuting, city ... context in which this Hydra 2 H2O best comes into their own. The Hydra 2 H2O - and the latter does indeed refer to the waterproofness - consciously combines all-weather protection with a certain elegance.
They are black, not overly thick, light and handy. A soft (Thinsulate® G and polar fleece) lining will give you the right feeling from the start: warm and winter do go together. The outer shell is made of goatskin leather (palm) and textile (back), and the combination - especially the protective shield they form together - is referred to by REV'IT! as PWR|Shell and PWR|shield, depending on whether stretch material or protective material (Temperfoam®) is used. Food for thought for engineers: when it comes to these motorcycle gloves, it's important to know that 'like a glove' has rarely been more appropriate.
Beneath that protective outer layer, a hydratex®|Z-liner with McFit® technology ('fit': fit!) ensures good breathability and waterproof qualities. On the exterior, the hard knuckle protector is the most obvious 'motorcycle' element in this very handsome glove, which is really armed to give maximum service in rough conditions.
The fit, with a close fitting knit cuff that seems to come from under the actual motorcycle glove, may take some getting used to for the enthusiast of longer gloves. The Hydra 2 H2O is worn underneath the jacket, that much is clear, and then you suddenly get all the advantages of a short motorcycle glove (mobility, comfort, flexibility) linked to the positive and weatherproof qualities of a long motorcycle glove.
The fingertips are GPS and smartphone compatible, and with a visor wiper (left), everything is in place to ride through winter without much fuss. The obligatory closure consists of a velcro strip under the thumb. The REV'IT! logo is laminated reflective material.
