With the Clonic, Modeka delivers entry-level motorcycle pants that are quite versatile. This 2-in-1 has a sporty look & feel and there is something to be said for that.
First things first: textile is the main component of the Clonic. It may look like you can race it around the track, these are and remain in the first place low threshold biker's pants for street use. The fabric is a giveaway, as is the integrated Humax® membrane and the removable thermal lining. Touring fits the label better. The Air Vent System - zippered vents on the upper legs - guarantee a pleasant air flow when the temperatures rise. In other words, the whole range is possible, in the knowledge that a pair of motorbike pants at this price naturally prefers to avoid the most extreme situations. In itself that is not a problem, because the same goes for most motorcyclists.
You can go a long way with this. The CE-certification (personal protection material) is logically a fact. The flexible YF-protectors on the knees are standard. There is no hip protection. The Clonic is held together by safety seams. Discreet reflective material makes sure you don't need all that protective material even in less favorable riding conditions.
In terms of comfort, everything is fine. Literally and figuratively. Wide accordion fabric above the knee, supplemented by a stripe of stretch fabric on the inside, gives you sufficient freedom of movement. The seat was given a generous dose of anti-slip material and in the back there is more than enough accordion fabric to know that the higher back of the pants is comfortable.
The waist can be (well-)closed by means of a fourfold mechanism where a zipper and velcro support a slider and push button. Closed is closed, that's for sure. The partially elastic band you tighten to your own discretion, thanks to the adjustable velcro straps. Two zippered pockets, the available storage space is not overwhelming, but it is sufficient.
Adjustment options come in the form of a double set of press studs (three each) at the back of the upper- and lower leg. On the lower leg you'll also find the zipper which makes getting in and out of the boot considerably easier.
