What was the last point of improvement, we hear you ask? Design, material and all-round safety have already been updated, compared to the first version, that's right. The way the collar can be opened with a push button is an improvement, but especially the membrane had to be improved, thanks to the Hydratex®-lite membrane.
In concrete terms: the membrane is even more breathable and now also stretchy. Less artificial. Better, more comfortable and more enjoyable. It's a real step up - once again - and it makes the Tornado 3 a motorcycle jacket you really want to have in your closet.
Motorcycle jackets are trying to be versatile anyway. Ventilation and lining, that sort of thing. The comfort zone is often in the range of 'pretty chilly' to 'doable'. The Tornado 3 shifts the action zone to anything from ten degrees up to forty. And then it can start pouring down too. And that is of a completely different order than we are used to.
The outer fabric is made of polyester and mesh. And that says too little. PWR|Shell is the name of REV'IT's technology that allows wear-resistant and tear-resistant materials to form a strong unit. The result is a breathable yet protective outer layer. For when the temperature is 40 degrees Celsius. But then the road rises, you get a shower or the weather turns out not to be stable forever. No problem: the removable thermal lining with waterproof Hydratex® Lite membrane is quick and easy to fit and opens up a whole new range of possibilities. Up to ten degrees.
It is striking that the removable lining, plus membrane, is in itself a 2-in-1. Based on the - correct - idea that it gets colder when it's wet, REV'IT immediately combines lining and membrane. The thermo-membrane combination is finished in such a way that you can walk around without the actual jacket. At night, when it gets chilly, at the campsite, during a hike, on a mountain top...
The Tornado 3 is an excellent motorcycle jacket, with a different focus than most. This is summer, with lots of other possibilities. Not: lots of cold, wet options and also a ventilation zipper. The focus is reversed, and that makes it - Belgium and north - suddenly very interesting. It distinguishes this whole Tornado 3 package (there are also pants and a complete female outfit) from most other motorcycle clothing.
This is the jacket you'll leave Belgium at five in the morning with as comfortably as you arrive in Provence twelve hours later. Especially since this is vintage REV'IT. High quality workmanship, attention to detail. A tight fit, which can be improved with excellent tightening straps. Prepared for a Connector Neon vest. Collar hook, flexisnap at the collar, stretch where needed. Reflective accents - both on the jacket and on the lining - and a trio of inner pockets, in addition to two front slash pockets.
