Especially in appearance, the CR-6 Drystar is just a tad more robust and heavier than what Alpinestars usually presents with much Italian flair of the ankle high motorcycle shoes, but do not be fooled: it feels good, it fits well, it is waterproof and you can walk a long way with it.
Anyway, when Alpinestars makes something, it always includes all the knowledge and expertise from racing. Construction, technique, know-how, they are all present, also in this CR6 Drystar. It is close to the world of adventure and touring motorcycles. The advanced construction of these motorcycle shoes includes fine mesh material, seamlessly integrated in the outer layer, which mainly consists of nubuck. As a whole, this results in a well-ventilated, breathable, comfortable, but all in all still robust motorcycle shoe. A waterproof motorcycle shoe too - the Drystar® membrane ensures that.
With an integrated toe protection that emphasizes ergonomics and internal protection, we arrive where Alpinestars feels at home. Especially the ankle protectors (TPU, anatomical, well-positioned) will prove their worth when it comes down to it. Outwardly they are relatively inconspicuous: only those who get close enough will notice the external ankle protector. However, it is not about outward appearances. As we said, the CR-6 Drystar is a little less Italian flair, and a little more discreet thoroughness. Everything is relative of course: these are motorcycle shoes which get you anywhere without problems. The vulcanized rubber sole and replaceable footbed are clearly designed to satisfy demanding motorcyclists who like to keep the motorcycle feeling.
The reflective material on the heel is particularly subtle. The laces are neatly tucked away under the velcro strip that sits just below the shoe opening. The combination of laces and velcro is real customization.
