A 'Spartan' is many things: tough as nails, tight, sober and strong. At least, that's how tradition wants it. The Spartan GT Carbon opts for more comfort and retains the good qualities of Spartan education and martial ART.
“Performance in its field" is a key part of this. In the case of the Spartan GT Carbon this is to be found in the sporty, racing range, although the touring rider will certainly have just as much fun with this helmet.
The carbon and glass fiber helmet shell is light and compact. ‘Light' as in: 1450 grams, more or less, which is astonishing for a full-face helmet with two visors and a level of protection like this. Two helmet shells accommodate the different helmet sizes and that obviously helps too.
Two air intakes and as many outlets help regulate ventilation. Everything can be opened and closed, allowing for a number of settings. Aerodynamics were clearly a theme in the development of the Spartan GT Carbon and this led - among other things - to the dual spoiler at the rear. Thanks to wind tunnel testing, the helmet is also quite quiet.
The transparent VZ300 visor has its origins in the VZ100 visor used by pros. The cylindrical shape is specifically designed to provide a larger (read: wider) field of vision, without causing optical distortion. An included Pinlock Max Vision® lens prevents fogging. The mechanism - with a new, central locking system - stands out because of the very extensive range of positions in which the visor clicks very softly. This is particularly striking: the numerous and very smooth yet secure positions. The side panels that cover everything neatly prevent aerodynamic turbulence and are, again, good for your hearing.
A bit hidden at first sight is the integrated sun visor. "Yes, of course it's hidden, that's why it's called integrated...", we hear you think. Rightly so, but we had to get used to the operation of the sun visor, which is located at the top of the helmet with Shark. That's why. Once rediscovered, the sun visor appears to reach very low, almost to the nose deflector. It provides an extra, welcome protection and allows you to ride with open (transparent) visor without collecting insects with your face.
The interior has antibacterial properties, is made of recycled fibers, removable, washable and features the 'EasyFit' cut-outs that make it easy and comfortable for glasses-wearers. There's quite a bit of '3D morphology' in the cheek pads and this delivers a perfect fit, where comfort and the necessary support complement each other just about perfectly. The more we discover of the Spartan, the less Spartan it becomes. The wind deflector even has a summer and a winter setting.
Another eye-catcher on the Spartan GT Carbon is the new 'Shark Emergency Release System' which allows to intervene in an intuitive but numbered way in case of an accident.
Any helmet with half a gram of racing ambitions naturally uses the Double-D ring as its closure. Reflective stickers to stick on the helmet are included in the box (required by law in France).
For cleaning the outside of your helmet we can recommend the S100helmet cleaner . The helmet interior can also be cleaned without removing it with S100 interior cleaner. A treatment on the outside of the visor with Rain-X anti-rain spray improves visibility during rain.

Safety above all! Never ride with a scratched or dull visor. Especially at night scratches cause a blinding reflection of streetlights and headlights of oncoming vehicles. This effect is even more pronounced in rainy weather. It is best to replace a scratched or matt visor as soon as possible. Planning a long trip? Then don't forget to take a replacement visor with you. Never ride in the dark with a tinted visor.
