This still very tight Racing 3 D-DRY® shifts one gear down from its iconic, sporty, leather brother with almost the same name and is made of textile. Cordura® to be precise. And that difference is felt - except on the outside of the jacket - especially in your wallet.
The family tree continues unabated and apples don't fall far from the tree. The Racing 3 D-DRY® is just as much a third evolution of the original Racing motorcycle jacket. Only: it is not leather. And then you know immediately that this version is not a track beast. This is the 'street version’ of the thoroughbred racing branch of the family. That also means that this D-DRY® is just that little bit less 'armor' and offers a little more comfort. Especially because on the sleeves, under the armpits and on the flanks, you find plenty of bi-elastic material and stretch zones. And because the outside consists of water-repellent, abrasion-resistant textile (Cordura®) and is equipped with a waterproof, breathable D-Dry® membrane. Underneath that, you can place a removable thermal lining. Ventilation means ventilation openings on the chest, back and sleeves. Together with the special Sanitized® lining they provide a pleasant degree of cooling when you're on the road.
The Racing 3 D-DRY® sounds like a touring jacket but it still looks sleek and sporty. Ready for a solid ride in all conditions, we think. The interchangeable aluminum plate on each shoulder is clear in that respect. Everything is foreseen to integrate a good back protector. With this version you can also add a double chest protector. The composite protectors on the shoulders and elbows are CE-certified.
Although you take into account the extra removable thermal padding, the Racing 3 also in D-DRY® version sits tight around the upper body. A high degree of pre-shaping, the tapered sleeves and the various snaps on the collar and sleeve ends give it away: it has to stay a bit exciting. The velcro loop in the waist is the finishing touch. This textile motorcycle jacket ‘sets’ less than a leather one.
Conversely, this means that storage space becomes more accessible. DAINESE translates this into two zipped side pockets, two inner pockets and two pockets in the the thermal lining. Quite a lot and there's a good chance that – go, racer - on top of your tank you choose not to put too much in there. But it can be done. Reflective material emphasizes the fact that this Racing 3 D-DRY® is a motorcycle jacket for use on public roads.
The connecting zipper is a typical DAINESE piece of ART that you can attach to almost any DAINESE pants.
