York. It's a city, it sounds urban and so it fits this urban sneaker perfectly. The fact that it can rain terribly on days in York is conveniently overlooked, because with the York Air you purposefully choose for the summer.
This is a breathable motorbike shoe that certainly offers possibilities. Western Europe is almost completely urbanized, so don't slam on the brakes at the last house. Visually, the York Air is definitely a city-dweller, but it is sturdy enough to give confidence elsewhere and the hard-wearing cowhide suede outer layer can take a beating. Not against water, that should also be clear: ‘Air’ and watertight do not go together.
Other than that, there are few limitations. The Speed Demon seems to emerge from the depths and the finish is clean. The York Air is a lightweight, not too much bells and whistles, but with ankle protectors and a solid rubber sole.
The shaft is neatly finished and spares your Achilles tendon a little, while the mesh lining still just peeks around the corner. Ankle-high is exactly what it says, and that makes the York Air a legal motorcycle shoe.
The laces are high enough to prevent from snagging the gear lever or rear brake at your first stop. The reflective stripe on the heel is something that makes us happy.
It goes without saying that you should bring the rest of your outfit into line with the York Air's styling idea: motorcycle jeans, leather jacket, sunglasses ...
The higher the fashion level - and the level of ‘we don’t really look like motorcycle shoes’-, the smaller the chance your leather shoes have a full-fledged shifting reinforcement. No problem on a scooter but on a motorbike, the multitude of shifting will quickly cause wear and tear. A shame of the leather shoes because this “wear and tear” will not often be incorporated in the warranty conditions.
