The DAINESE Aurora Lady D-WP® is a high, versatile motorcycle boot for women. Waterproof and with a bunch of protective material, this is a 'multiple use' boot that will prove very useful in just about all conditions.
The outer layer - and with a shaft of almost 30 centimeters it's pretty big - consists of microfiber and abrasion-resistant polyamide. Plastic, although no one will blame you if you confuse it with leather. Let’s just say: it looks good. The large accordion pieces at the front and to a lesser extent at the back are necessary to keep a motorcycle boot of this size flexible, comfortable and above all agile. Mission accomplished in this case, because after parking the Aurora Lady D-WP® continues to be used without problems.
You may even end up in serious puddles and pools. D-WP® is a material that has been developed in the DAINESE Technology Center by a number of smart R&D people. It's waterproof and water-repellent, which means your feet stay dry, but it also means your boots look more like a duck than a sponge: the water runs off them instead of going in.
So you already have a waterproof, high and comfortable motorcycle boot. One with a CE-certification (Cat.II - EN - 13634). The heel, ankle and toe are clearly reinforced and the shin plate inspires confidence.
Getting in and out of the boot is actually quite easy. Top of the range motorcycle boots do not always have the best reputation, but DAINESE is no noob. The zipper on the inside runs from the rubber sole to about 12 inches below the top. Shin and calf are connected by means of velcro on both sides. The advantage of this is that the Aurora Lady D-WP® can be fitted very individually. Over thick-lined or ultra-thin motorcycle pants, it just works.
The shifting reinforcement is TPU and the reflective inserts are - although subtle - certainly an added value.
