The K3 SV is an affordable and versatile full-face helmet with a lot of extras, standard on board. Always fun. AGV's K3 SV line stands out for its cartoonish designs.
Thermoplastic is the main component of the helmet shell. With two helmet shells to accommodate all helmet sizes, AGV keeps the weight of the K3 SV neatly around 1500 grams. Not even that much for a motorcycle helmet with an integrated sun visor and lots of sporting ambitions. AGV - active for 70 years and almost 25 years helmet supplier to Valentino Rossi - tries to go further than many other helmet manufacturers. Especially from a safety perspective and with a tradition in racing, they like to go beyond the standard. This is also the case with the K3 SV. The collarbone safe profile is particularly noteworthy in this respect, with the shape of the helmet at the bottom preventing you from breaking your collarbone in the event of a literal crash. The same profile (with two support points and a bow in the middle) makes a helmet donut no unnecessary luxury.
With five front vents, two on the chin, two at forehead level and a top vent, you won't hear any complaints. At the back two outlets lead the wind back outside. All vents can be operated as a matter of course. To open the double chin vents, you have to use the lever on the inside of the chin guard. You'll find it at the bottom, at the front, where the wind curtain leaves a small opening to slide your finger through. It's great when you suddenly discover how ingeniously something has been put together.
Special attention was also paid to the visor. Anti-scratch, Pinlock® included, with a patented Extra Microlock System and a Micro-opening system - where you can guarantee a small slot at the front - a lot has been thought of. ‘Ultravision' is also a point of interest in every AGV motorcycle helmet: 190° horizontally and 85° vertically, those are the coordinates that should best fit your field of vision, according to the Italians. Good for a wide view on the road, curves and possible obstacles. Experience teaches us that it is mainly the speed of information-processing, in addition to a good viewing technique in the less professional circles that makes the difference, although it certainly can't hurt.
On the left side, just below the visor hinge, which leaves the mechanism visible, you will easily find the slider for the integrated sun visor, even with motorcycle gloves on. This is also an anti-scratch specimen and you can remove and replace it just like the transparent visor, without any tools.
The wind deflector on the nose is not too high but does its job. You can remove it without problems and the same goes for the wind curtain under your chin. The interior of the K3 SV is just as easy to replace, remove and wash. The interior consists of Dry-comfort, and that feels pleasant and good.
The soft and nicely finished micrometric closure is adjustable.
For maintenance of this helmet we recommend S100 helmet and visor cleaner for the outside. For cleaning the interior, without removing it, you can use S100 helmet interior cleaner. New visors have received a water-repellent treatment. This treatment is less effective after some time. Restore the water-repellent effect with Rain-X anti-rain spray.
Safety above all! Never ride with a scratched or dull visor. Especially at night, scratches cause blinding reflections from streetlights and headlights of oncoming vehicles. This effect is even more pronounced in rainy weather. It is best to replace a scratched or dull visor as soon as possible. Planning a longer trip? Then don't forget to take a replacement visor with you. Never ride in the dark with a tinted visor.
