This full-face helmet by iXS has - besides a very competitive price tag - absolutely enough assets to make it a serious candidate.
The design is sleek and sporty, something that emphasizes the NMT lacquer technology. The outer shell of the iXS 216 is made of polycarbonate and one helmet shell contains all sizes. The result weighs just under 1500 grams, which is certainly not too heavy for a full-face helmet with built-in sun visor.
We didn't tell you this yet: the clear, scratch-resistant quick-release visor is basic but good. It's Pinlock®-ready, and you'll find the Pinlock® lens (30) in the box. The rear integrated sun visor covers just about half your face. The slider to operate it is located on the left side of the helmet, just below the hinge of the transparent visor.
The chin of the iXS 216 is one of the hard-to-miss kind: it reaches high. Or low. Both at the top (the helmet opening is still wide and guarantees a good view) and at the bottom iXS seems to have provided a few extra millimeters which certainly benefits the sporty and maybe even a bit tough look of this motorcycle helmet. The chin and top ventilation are easy to operate, even with motorcycle gloves. Just above the closed visor you can let in another stream of air. The wind exits the helmet through the back, where an air vent guarantees the outflow.
With a wind curtain chin, a nose deflector and a removable, high quality polyester lining, the iXS 216 is a very complete motorcycle helmet. Literally and figuratively. The micrometric closure is soft and adjustable, and the well-designed neckline reduces the risk of whiplash.
At this sharp price there is only one word for it: top-quality.
In some countries (e.g., France) it is compulsory to have reflective stickers on your helmet. The iXS 216 is delivered without these reflective stickers. Reflective sticker sets can be found here.
Maintenance tips:
- Are you reluctant to disassemble the interior of your helmet in order to wash it? You can also clean the interior without removing it with S100 Helmet Interior Cleaner.
- The outside and the visor of your helmet should be cleaned with S100 Helmet and visor cleaner.
Safety above all! Never ride with a scratched or dull visor. Especially at night, scratches cause blinding reflections of street lights and headlights of oncoming vehicles. This effect is even more pronounced in rainy weather. It is best to replace a worn visor as soon as possible. Planning a long trip? Then don't forget to take a replacement visor with you. Never ride in the dark with a tinted visor.
