Alpinestars? At this price? That's right. The Gravity Drystar is a very price-conscious yet versatile, waterproof and multi-purpose motorcycle jacket. It looks simpler than it is.
Alpinestars obviously has the know-how and technology to have a bit of a surplus. Not everyone rides like Marc Marquez at work. Or to work. And then you can easily shift down a gear - also in price - and still deliver a top-quality jacket.
The chassis - the exterior - consists of 600 Denier polyester with a double layer of polyurethane on the back and a bit of leather on the shoulders. On the latter you can clearly feel the padding, but the alert motorcyclist will notice: 600 D. Often appears in the first paragraphs of motorcycle jackets, and for a very good reason. It is wear- and tear-resistant. A very good basis, so Alpinestars provides more than enough of it.
Underneath it - on the shoulders and elbows - is impact protection in the form of Nucleon Flex Plus Level 1 armor. Optionally you can add a Nucleon Plasma back protector (level 2 certified) or Nucleon KR-CELLi back protector (level 1 certified) and even a Nucleon Flex Pro Ci chest protector.
But, back to the exterior for a moment: the Gravity Drystar® is a touring jacket, let that be clear. In cut, in style, in functionality. Three-quarters, it takes a tiny bit of getting used to when you come off the track, but Alpinestars doesn't drop many stitches. On the contrary, the centering straps (velcro) are an added value.
If you also know that beneath, there is a fixed Drystar ® membrane - breathable and waterproof, then you are very close to a very good touring and/or commuter jacket. Versatile too, because with a removable thermal lining and two side ventilation zippers you can do almost anything. The weather would have to be crazy for the Gravity Drystar® not to keep both feet on the ground.
It goes without saying that the Gravity is a bit moldable. We already mentioned the centering straps, and velcro is chosen on the sleeve ends and collar. The good YKK waterproof zipper, with cover flap, and the snaps on the upper arms are a plus.
Add all that up, and you add the chest pocket, two large side pockets, the inside pockets, the reflective material on the shoulders, the soft inside of the collar and the connection zipper, and you get a total package with which you can really do a lot. And it has an impressive logo and reputation, for which you usually have to dig a lot deeper into your pockets.
The Gravity Drystar®, a very successful step towards the most competitive part of the touring segment.
The Gravity Drystar Pants are an obvious choice to combine with. The long connection zipper makes it quick and easy.
There is maintenance clothing and then there is clothing maintenance. Good, solid motorcycle clothing is an investment in comfort and personal safety. So invest in its maintenance after your purchase and enjoy your gear for longer.
