This second version of the Sektor Tech has a somewhat misleading name. A true hoodie or a good mid-season motorcycle jacket, it's somewhere in between. In any case: it’s somewhere in the direction of urban commuting.
From one side of the city to the other, in all comfort. Then on to the highway and head for the coast, the conditions should be a bit on the up side. Mind you, it is possible. The Sektor V2 Tech Hoodie has CE-certified shoulder and elbow protectors on board and can even refer to the TPU underbody slider when it comes to fall protection, so from a purely legal point of view, it's certainly allowed. The main reason to develop a second version was, by the way, a redetermination of the CE-certification.
Although it is and remains a hoodie. Not a racing suit - if we take it to the other extreme. In this case we are talking about softshell as outer material. Technically good, reinforced with aramid, three layers, wear resistant, wind blocker and even - don't expect miracles! - waterproof, but ... it is and remains a hoodie. Admittedly, if you remove the hood from the hoodie - and that's absolutely possible - you're left with a good, light, strong jacket, but still ...
It all depends on your personal preference, what you feel safe with and what your plans are. Legally speaking, you can wear pyjamas on a motorcycle (long sleeves, long pant legs), and there are jackets which at first sight are more robust than the Sektor V2 Tech, until you take it to the tarmac.
Alpinestars is not just any brand and the level 1 Nucleon Flex Plus protectors on the shoulders and elbows are top level. Nothing stops you from even integrating an optional Nucleon KR-CELL CiS chest protector or a Nucleon Plasma back protector (level 2 certified) or Nucleon KR-CELLi back protector (level 1 certified). Then, the difference with any 'normal' motorcycle jacket quickly becomes very small.
Moreover, it all stays very comfortable and light. Waist and sleeve ends with elastic elements and even a thumb loop, a number of practical pockets with zippers, the detachable hood, reflective details on the sleeves and back and above all lots of comfort and flexibility ... You can go a lot of ways with this jacket. Even towards the coast. So let's keep it that way.
