The Mohawk has been given the number '3' and that is of course due to the fact that this is already the third incarnation of the eponymous Mohawk motorcycle shoes. Three times as good, we think. And we are not far off.
Of course, it is not possible to just do everything times three. The Mohawk motorbike shoe was already good, then better in the second version, and in the meantime completely on point in this Mohawk 3, that is how we see it. This is one of those motorcycle shoes that nobody believes are CE-certified, full-fledged motorcycle shoes. And that's entirely down to the design.
Admit it, the mix of smooth leather and suede makes for a pretty unique look. A look that in no way says 'typical motorcycle shoe'. On the contrary, this ankle-high (a bit higher even) sneaker/boot/city shoe is in the first place very wearable. Then also very comfortable. And also equipped with a lot of protection material. Nobody will be surprised if the Mohawk 3 ends up somewhere in the rack between the ordinary shoes. After all, that is what it looks like. It is only when you feel the reinforced side, reinforced toe, reinforced heel and ankle cup that you might frown. Is this more than a sneaker? More than a boot? Yes, it is. A whole lot more.
An important question is whether the Mohawk 3 is waterproof. There is no membrane on board, but the relative height of the shaft, the well-made shoe tongue and the leather will at least 'repel' a sludge of water. Much depends on the intensity that water falls; gradually in drops or splashes hard from your front wheel towards your lower leg. Really 100% waterproof ... not really.
You can do a serious city walk in these, in all comfort. The Ortholite insole, among other things, makes sure of that. A day at the office? No problem at all. We are actually mistaken about the Mohawk 3. These are simply top shoes. General. And you can, should and will get on a motorcycle with them. Something that is perfectly possible, because they are made to do that safely. This is the balance between having comfortable feet all day long, and making a motorcycle ride home at the end of that day. Between feeling light and looking good, but also maintaining a pretty solid base. REV'IT! manages to bring a lot of assets together in this Mohawk 3.
The Mohawk 3 is a shoe that creates possibilities. It will certainly satisfy today's city dweller or commuter who rides the subway as easily as a motorcycle. You have to be able to handle laces. No zippers here, but lace hooks that are high enough to avoid any entanglement with gear levers or foot brakes.
