The Avenue jacket has been a popular part of the REV'IT! range, and in this third version - the Avenue 3 GTX - it's actually better than ever. It's part of the 'Urban Collection', and is indeed the perfect example of the urban parka that will get you safely on your bike. And then go out to dinner with your business appointment.
This is a modern city dweller. Or for the modern city dweller. The outer shell is laminated 2L-GORE-TEX®. Waterproof, breathable and a guarantee for long, dry rides. In virtually any condition. The water does not get beyond the outer shell of the Avenue 3 GTX, so this also always remains light and comfortable.
Relatively, because the laminated GORE TEX®, but also the all-round, long, three-quarter-length cut, the removable hood (also laminated, with 3 layers even) and the removable thermal lining give it away: the Avenue 3 GTX is an autumn-winter-early spring motorcycle jacket. First and foremost. It feels like one, it looks like one, and you don't have to look for vents, for example. Mind you, it's still high-tech motorcycle clothing, so the Avenue 3 GTX breathes, keeps your body temperature stable and creates a healthy environment.
The thermal lining is wonderfully finished - note the collar - but we can really say that about the entire Avenue 3 GTX. This is fashion, as much as it is motorcycle clothing. Stylish, classic, really the parka look and the parka fit. The Avenue 3 GTX is quite long. Very impressive is the special band on the inside, that creates a kind of windproof buffer at your waist. Indeed: a three-quarter length jacket can sometimes let the wind pass underneath. The Avenue 3 GTX doesn't do that. Not at all. And we don't need to explain to anyone that it's not always the cold temperatures that make you shiver, but the icy gust of wind that finds its way to your body.
The Avenue 3 GTX is not a quick-fix jacket. This is a serious jacket. Even at the coat rack, you'll see that right away. That doesn't mean you're riding with a parachute - far from it - but it's obviously not a race suit. The hood is removable (zipper) but it can't be attached to the back, for example. These are all indications that the Avenue 3 GTX preferably moves between traffic lights, in heavy traffic, over long lanes. Not at a constant top speed, but in demanding conditions. In rapidly changing conditions too: commuting, lunch, on foot, on the bike, back to the office, home in the evening (there's good reflective material on board!) ... You don't even have to think about it.
To make that possible, REV'IT! chooses SEESMART™ protectors at the shoulders and elbows. These are the most flexible, most lightweight, and most unobtrusive impact protectors available. CE-certified, they are, and combined with the abrasion resistant exterior, they provide a solid and safe base, where you hardly notice that you're wearing a motorcycle jacket.
It is perfectly possible to fit a SEESOFT™ back protector if you wish, and the commuter who has to travel some distance and would like to experience more tangible protection can of course upgrade himself.
The Avenue 3 GTX seals you high and tight. The sleeve ends got a velcro strip to give you a little leeway and with - on the outside - two spacious and well closable side pockets you can come a long way.
This is a great city jacket. And a great motorcycle jacket. Perhaps the conditions and your daily activities will dictate that you wear a good pair of motorcycle jeans with it, and possibly - if the weather gets really bad - a pair of overpants.
