The short and lightweight Spectrum from REV'IT! stands out because of its neoprene shell, but also because of the ease and practicality of this summery glove.
It has a sporty side, it seems, but feels right at home when you'd rather not wear a glove. Something we do not recommend, and which is usually mandatory. Anyway: there are motorcycling gloves which seem to be ready for battle: hard, leathery cocoons with lots of solid protectors. The 'we'll go even faster the next round' type. There are also gloves that make you doubt whether you're holding the handlebars or a brush handle. Nice and warm but a bit on the thick side.
And then there is this: the REV'IT! Spectrum.
The exterior is a combination of neoprene (the back) and goatskin leather (the palm) and especially the first is a striking element. Naturally soft, but also used in motorcycle jackets, it has earned its stripes. Yet here it is mainly the invisible PWR|Shell reinforcement that provides the wear-resistance. Together with goatskin leather and a lot of temperfoam. The temperfoam - preformed, semi-rigid protective elements - are located on the knuckles, fingers, palm and thumb. Along with the flexible knuckle protector, that's not bad, though we like to add that temperfoam is more "soft and nice," and not "track-worthy”.
Shop in, shop out. Fast forward to the bakery. In town. Or just a summery, somewhat longer ride, that's okay too. The ease to using the Spectrum in the right context is pleasing. That you don't have to ride it through a flood or the whole year round seems obvious.
The cuff reaches to the wrist and normally leaves some margin to the end of the sleeve. Closing is done by means of a velcro strip.
The conductive - not sliding - fingertips mean you don't have to take the Spectrum off when you want to operate a screen. Also easy.
There is maintenance clothing and then there is clothing maintenance. Good, solid motorcycle clothing is an investment in comfort and personal safety. So invest in its maintenance after your purchase and enjoy your gear for longer.
