The Sand 4 H2O motorcycle glove is a waterproof, adventure-oriented and very versatile motorcycle glove. What is ‘new' is strangely enough the waterproof element, because this is the fourth version of the Sand, but the first with a hydratex® membrane.
For those who have doubts about the price: read this first. Then ride a trip or two with these gloves. Doubts gone.
This is a step forward, that much is clear. The Sand family forms an impressive unit within the REV'IT!-range, and this Sand 4 H2O definitely has a place in it. In essence, the differences with the 'regular' Sand 4 - without membrane - are limited. The cuff is longer in this waterproof version to create a sort of automatic connection with the sleeve ends, and the shape of the TPU knuckle protector is also different.
The outside remains a good mix of goat leather and stretch material. Wear-resistant, strong, clearly less focused on ventilation than its non-waterproof namesake but absolutely designed for (and partly by) motorcyclists. Aramid is hidden in the pieces that look like textile and the TRP finger protection, TRP palmslider, and extra Temperfoam® elements on the fingers provide a lot of external protection.
Underneath is the hydratex® membrane. Known, reputed and proven solid, with breathable properties and a very high degree of waterproofness it should provide dry hands in almost all conditions.
The cuff is longer than the 'dry' Sand 4 gloves. Deliberately, because in this way the sleeve end and glove end overlap. It also means that this Sand 4 H2O needs a clearly more traditional closure-with-cuff: under the hand a velcro strip and on the cuff itself a second, wider velcro strip. The little loop to put on the motorcycle glove: that still needs to prove its worth.
It should be clear that everything about this motorcycle glove is of a certain level. Quality, functionality, materials, workmanship, an index finger that allows you to operate a touchscreen and the all-round appearance of being a seasoned adventurer, this matches the Sand 4 H2O motorcycle jacket perfectly in both style and function.
