The Quantum 2 Air is a modified, more 'urban' summer version of the Quantum theme, of which a number still adorns the now well-stocked family tree. The Quantum 2 Air jacket, together with the waterproof Quantum 2 H2O jacket, is a different (textile) branch.
This Quantum 2 Air motorcycle jacket, like its counterpart, is less "race" and more "urban" than, for example, the leather Quantum 2 Pro Air, which is perhaps the closest to it in idea. Between ideas and practical, daily use is a distance, and then this Quantum 2 Air scores higher. Contrary to its race-track brothers, the Quantum 2 Air is a textile jacket, which is no small difference.
Transpiration is its superpower, and so the outer shell of this jacket consists of lots of mesh. At the front, back and on the arms, it results in a lightweight jacket with quite some durable qualities (thanks to the 600D in the most critical places). Ventilation openings are superfluous, just like an extra thermal lining: this is a summer jacket, and the choice is clear.
Visually, the design continues to exude speed, although the feel is obviously completely different from that of the leather REV'IT! Quantum 2 jacket. A deliberate choice, for a younger, urban audience with different expectations. The Quantum 2 Air jacket is a summery, everyday companion. Don't think: hump, leather, tight. The external elbow pads are gone, but the TPU shoulder pads are still there. The rest of the impact protection also remains excellent: SEESMART Level 1 CE-protectors on the shoulders and elbows and those who wish can optionally fit a SEESOFT CE-level 2 back protector. A step lower than the tracks, which of course is reflected in the lower price.
To be clear: a step below track level is still more than sufficient for regular use on public roads.
The sleeve ends contain a stripe of velcro, as do the adjustment options on the waist. For the collar and the adjustment option on the upper arms, REV'IT! chooses snaps. The cut of the Quantum 2 Air motorcycle jacket is much more "textile" than its tighter, sharper, leather brethren. This leans towards the waterproof H2O version and is also a bit longer at the back than at the front, although it's still very clear that the inspiration comes from short race motorcycle jackets and suits.
Reflective material is also present. REV'IT! is not a fan of "too much", and keeps it to a subtle element at the bottom of the back.
The long and short connection zippers, and the Belt Loop, allow you to pair the jacket with a pair of motorcycle jeans or textile REV'IT!
