A 'one-piece suit' is always what the name implies: a (racing) suit in which the pants and jacket form one unit. Indivisible, because that is the intention. Typically, you will not see many touring riders in this suit. This is more for gentlemen who prefer a sporty (read: fast) seat on their motorcycle.
It's no coincidence that this Quantum 2 - a successor and so improvement - comes straight from the race track. The improvements aren't always earth-shattering, but in their simplicity, they are often just what the word says: better. For example, REV'IT has raised the graphic design on the chest and belly. This leaves the area where friction with the tank is possible unprinted. The design is what it is: love it or hate it, as they say at REV'IT, those seem to be the options. It does show speed, that's for sure.
For those who say 'love it': the Quantum 2 is one of those motorcycle suits that can easily be left hanging in the living room for a week, just to enjoy it. We’re just saying. Leather is the 'weapon of choice' when we get near the track, and it hardly gets any closer than the REV'IT Quantum 2. Monaco performance cowhide and Monaco cowhide make up the bulk of the suit, with the 'performance' mostly found where you're potentially most at risk. Wear and tear resistant as it should be. And in this case laser-perforated, for good air circulation.
Of course, hoisting yourself in a full cowhide leather harness is highly impractical, so REV'IT has provided PWR|Shell stretch material in all the right places, which immediately gives you a lot of freedom of movement and, above all, wear and sitting comfort. The stretch material itself is new, and the stretch section in the crotch has been modified: it now runs higher towards the torso, making it easy to get on and off. The central zipper is longer, so that 'hoisting' is not so bad. The Quantum 2 slides off your shoulders smoother than its predecessor. Pieces of accordion fabric above the elbows and knees give a helping hand.
What's the point? Attack every bend and hang onto the bike as smoothly as possible. Knee to the ground, please. Alvaro Bautista and Danilo Petrucci have done it.
This is perfectly possible, thanks to the dual-compound kneesliders, where the softer element allows the rider to test the curbstones with ease. The real artists can also put their elbow to the ground, because there too with the 'dual-comp elbow sliders' you do that without hesitation. Both provide enough reference points to allow you to really push the boundaries of physics. The sliders on the shoulders ensure that it continues to go well, even if you lose the center of gravity along the way.
Apart from the external and most conspicuous protection, you can also rely on a lot of safety equipment underneath. SEESMART CE-level 1 protectors on the hips are standard, just like the BETAC CE-Type B protectors under the sliders on knees, shoulders and elbows. All three are height adjustable. For those who still don't have enough: the Quantum 2 is prepared to be fitted with an optional SEESOFT CE-Type RV back protector, and can accommodate a de-doubled SEESOFT CE-level 1 chest protector.
It doesn't need to be explained that it can get pretty warm on and off the track. The new mesh fabric on the shoulders of the REV'IT Quantum 2 still acts as a heat sink. Warm air rises, even inside a suit, and leaves the suit via this route. If it still gets too hot, the hump doubles as a water carrier. The inside of the hump can easily accommodate a water bag or a camelbag. And if - despite all these measures - you should encounter unpleasant odors after a tough ride, you can easily remove the lining from the one-suit and give it a wash.
Smooth, flat, new and expanding zippers on the calves and at the sleeve ends ensure that this suit fits like a glove. The neoprene finish on the collar and sleeves only adds to the comfort. This is the ultimate racing suit: visually strong, with optimal protection and comfort, and with an impressive attention to detail. And even better than the first version.
