The Andes V3 Drystar motorbike pants form a single unit, together with the jacket of the same name, and they have many similar features. We are in the 'adventure touring' category, and this is the most popular of all motorbike pants, and that means something.
These textile motorcycle pants are built from a combination of tear and abrasion resistant materials, whereby the knees and seat area received extra attention in this case. Both visually and in terms of properties. Striking are in any case the reinforced and printed areas on the knee, which provide additional resistance when you have to bend due to the circumstances.
It must be going pretty wrong then, because the Andes V3 Drystar motorcycle pants is a very high quality 2-in-1. The breathable and waterproof Drystar® membrane is integrated in the outside of the pants, the thermal inner pants can be easily unzipped. Underneath you'll find the mesh lining which, in combination with the 'Direct Ventilation System' (here synonymous for the simple opening or closing of ventilation zippers on the upper legs), ensures a pleasant cooling down on hot days.
Versatility trumps, and if you're named after the mountain range that tears South America in half, we expect a bit of that. The cut is 'tapered', which means that the pants are relatively tight at the ankles and that they even fit inside the boot. No flapping, in other words. Despite what 'tapered' sometimes means in other circumstances, you don't have to take off your boots to put on these pants.
There's enough integrated stretch material (knee, lower back, seat) to keep everything comfortable and accommodating, while still feeling firm, robust and secure. Logical, because that's what it is: the knee protectors are Nucleon Flex Plus copies, house brand of Alpinestars and of course CE-certified. Hip protection (Bio-Flex) is optional. Reflection comes from the integrated strips, although they will not put you in the spotlight during the day.
Attention to detail can be found - among other places - at the waist, where a soft finish and extra padding ensure comfort. Velcro straps with a buckle on both sides allow you to adjust the Andes V3 Drystar to your body size. Closure is done by means of a double hook-and-button system, above a zipper. The suspenders are standard, but they can be removed in a flash.
It's obvious that there's a velcro strip at the bottom of the pants, to keep getting in and out of the pants easily, even with motor boots. The long combination zipper is one that holds almost the entire Alpinestars range accessible. The Andes V3 motorcycle jacket is the logical first choice.
