'Road' and 'Pro', that pushes things in a certain direction. 'GTX' is obviously GORE-TEX®, so as far as weather conditions are concerned, we're fine. All in all? Top of the range pants, top of the range, and did we mention top of the range?
The word Stella is reserved by Alpinestars for the real stars of this world: the motorcycling ladies. It means that this Stella Road Pro GTX is specifically tailored to the (anatomical) body of a woman.
Just about everything about the Stella Road Pro GTX is of high quality and the sum of its parts usually scores well. The outer layer of this - literally - weighty pair of pants consists of a 'performance fabric shell construction', which in human language means a smart, durable and waterproof construction.
We could devote a few paragraphs to this, but for the motorcyclist it is most important that the Stella Road Pro GTX feels robust and solid. Everything seems to scream 'long life' and as soon as you put on these motorcycle pants, that feeling is confirmed.
The waterproof hatch is provided for the integrated GORE TEX® membrane. Breathable and waterproof, but also non-removable. You have to take this into account, because it makes the Stella Road Pro GTX move towards autumn, winter and spring. The ventilation openings on the side of the thighs (zipper) create a smooth airflow, but these are obviously not windproof biker's pants. For the sake of completeness, we also mention the removable lining.
Then we are left with 'smart' and here this mainly translates into adjustment options. At the back, below the knee for instance. A special place but certainly not chosen at random, it ensures a good leg position, without suddenly seeming to have fabric, lining or membrane on surplus.
A lot of attention has been paid to the details. Stretch material and inserts for example, but also the zipper at the bottom and the adjustment possibilities at waist level are examples of the by now renowned Alpinestars quality.
The same goes for the standard impact protection. Nucleon Flex Plus knee and Bio-Flex hip protectors are both flexible and sturdy, and yes, the two are perfectly compatible in today's world.
A connecting zipper allows the combination with almost any Alpinestars motorcycle jacket and plenty of reflective material increases visibility.
