This perforated one-piece suit is aiming high. Very high. As a technological upgrade of the Laguna Seca 4 racing suit, there are few better alternatives. Unless you are the suit of Valentino Rossi himself.
Indeed, this is already the fifth in the line of iconic leather racing suits from DAINESE. This perforated version of the Laguna Seca 5 one-piece racing suit can be worn just as comfortably on the open road as it can during track training or racing.
Full grain and Tutu cowhide make up the largest piece of this perforated race suit. Logically, because wear- and tear-resistant, but in the case of this perforated DAINESE Laguna Seca 5 you can also add a hefty dose of ventilation panels and a whole battery of high-tech materials that in function of comfort, freedom of movement and flexibility fulfil their roles stylishly.
DAINESE designed and manufactures these types of racing suits for the high-performance segment, where maximum protection, maximum movement and maximum comfort touch base. The list of specific focus points is quite impressive: from the elastic inserts in the collar (and actually everywhere in the suit) to the integrated system that allows you to attach your boots to the one-piece suit, the lining with lycra and the tried and tested Microelastic 2.0 and the Tri-axial Technology on the back, this is - in three letters and in three directions - TOP. With another dose of aluminum and titanium, and the S1 bi-elastic material, you get an impressive and above all high-tech package.
Should we not be so keen on riding our bikes, we’d frame this perforated Laguna Seca 5 one-piece racing suit and hang it on our living room wall. Right behind that MV Augusta F3 with its deliciously short, triple exhaust that we finally, after endless hours of begging - excuse me, asking - were allowed to park there. Just to enjoy it.
It would be a shame about the aerodynamics, because they are more than up to scratch on a suit of this caliber. The hump is one that can accommodate a camelbag. That the perforated version of the Laguna Seca 5 is anatomically preformed and should really become like your second skin, is logical. Only then it comes into its own. ‘Tight in the suit' so to say, especially at that first fitting. Leather sets to your body.
DAINESE takes impact protection straight from the MotoGP: interchangeable and adjustable aluminum floating shoulder plates and RSS 3.0 elbow sliders. Knee, elbow and shoulder protection in composite material (EN 1621.1 - level 1). The hips got a set of Pro-shape protectors and the one-piece racing suit as a whole is certified to the CE-Cat. II-89/686/EEC-standard.
A back protector is not provided and cannot be fitted. With the separate Dainese Wave D1- and Dainese Manis D1 back protectors, there is no excuse not to gear up fully before heading out.
The real performers can put their elbow to the ground. The external elbow sliders are, like the external knee sliders, of course, quickly interchangeable. The elbow sliders require just a tad more work, and by 'just' we mean: you have to turn them a quarter for them to release. This is, in every way, a top-of-the-line suit. The knees are equipped on the inside with KGI (Knee Grip Insert) technology, which gives great results even in extreme cornering.
We don't need to explain that it can get pretty warm on and off the track. DAINESE has a lot in its expertise box to deal with this problem. They use 3D-Bubble inserts, there's a lot of perforation in this particular suit, of course, and the NanoFeel® removable and washable lining is also a plus.
Smooth, flat zippers at the calves and sleeve ends make sure this suit fits like a glove. The print is straightforward, with the speed demon prominently featured on your chest.
There is one inner pocket in this 'classy suit' and that last one is indeed a play on words on 'classy'. With another 'Protection & Cleaning kit' and a storage bag for the entire thing, this is a very complete equipment that is a straight road to winning. Or a bendy road, at that.
Or you can hang it in your living room. With that three-cylinder from MV Agusta.
There is maintenance clothing and then there is clothing maintenance. Good, solid clothing is an investment in comfort and personal safety. So invest in its maintenance after your purchase and enjoy your gear for longer.
