This doesn't look like a motorcycle jacket, but the Ignite Tex is exactly that: a very comfortable motorcycle jacket with everything that comes with it. And actually a lot more, because with this jacket you can also do anything off the bike.
The hood - removable and adaptable - is the first element that confuses the passer-by. It's also a good example of where the DAINESE Ignite Tex comes into its own: it's no coincidence that we're thinking of northern Italian cities, where men in suits head to the office in the morning on scooters and motorcycles. Inside the collar you'll find a reflective strip with a push button: here you can store the rolled up hoody when you're not using it.
A second thing is the water-repellent fleece from which this Ignite is made. Again, we spontaneously think of a Northern Italian shower, because 'water repellent' and 100% waterproof are two different things. A day of highway driving in wet conditions seems too much to us, but in the city, on the scooter and sometimes on foot, that should definitely work. The lining of the Ignite Tex consists mainly of a fixed mesh although the shoulders are also equipped with water-repellent material. Also worth mentioning are the integrated, elastic sleeve ends. Nice.
The cut is somewhere between sporty, casual and classic. Slightly longer in the back but rather short in general.
Is the water repellent fleece durable enough? Not to follow Valentino Rossi at Monza, no. But it will allow you to navigate between traffic lights and stationary cars during rush hour, is what we're saying. Underneath you also get reinforcement from the Pro-Armor shoulder and elbow protectors. Those who feel that‘s insufficient can fit a double Pro-Armor chest protector and a back protector. Still an impressive list, although there are a few details that seem to push towards 'city traffic' and 'a slightly slower pace'.
The integrated conductors for your earphones, to say the least. Above the left-hand Napoleon pocket. Note the speed demon. Or the Belt Loop, which ensures the connection between the Ignite Tex and your motorcycle jeans. With two zippered pockets in the front and a second napoleon pocket on the right you will have plenty of storage space.
The Ignite Tex is as much a style choice as anything else. And no one will complain about that choice.
