At first sight, these Segura Sultan models are quite sturdy motorcycle gloves. You 'feel' them, until you actually have them on your hands and they turn out to be wonderful, automatic, organic, smooth and tasteful. And warm too.
A waterproof membrane underneath the goatskin leather exterior provides a solid buffer and a lot of protection in extreme conditions. On the other hand, you want to know what you're holding, and they score excellently in that front as well. Goatskin leather helps of course: not only abrasion and wear resistant, but plenty of grip. The fingers are more robust on the outside than they are on the inside, which is in keeping with the overall impression you get from these motorcycle gloves. The 90-grams heavy thermal lining might also be part of that. In any case, warm, dry hands should not be a problem when putting on the Sultan motorcycle gloves.
They are not very long. The cuff ends a few centimeters below the hand. On the back of the hand, you get a different (visual) impression because of the zipper, which mainly has an aesthetic function. Of course, those external features - together with the accordion surfaces around the zipper and on the fingers, the diamond stitching on the palm and the press studs as closure - fit in with the general look and feel that is typical of Segura: vintage, classic, the pilot, the first motorcyclists, the 1950s and 1960s ... they are never really far away. But make no mistake. You can use it to operate your smartphone or GPS without any problems. The Sultan motorcycle gloves are as modern as can be. That means a knuckle protector with sufficient flexibility that remains visible under the leather, and excellent breathability.
Not every lady biker will be able to ride with these motorcycle gloves tucked into their jacket sleeves, but when you don't see that as a prerequisite, these are very nice winter gloves.
