In line with tradition and expectations, the Funky is a smooth buffalo leather motorcycle jacket with a nod to the first decades of motorcycle clothing. Although you immediately get a whole host of contemporary features as well.
Segura may love the neo-retro style, but it is still important to bring modern motorcycle jackets to the market. At least they didn't have the 90 gram thermal lining - removable of course - back then. You will soon, and it gives the Funky a much greater range. The exterior in the characteristic smooth buffalo leather and the fixed mesh lining together provide a range that is fairly all-round. Provided that the excesses are not really your thing. Leather and water also remain tricky in a Funky and the absence of many ventilation options might make high summer just a little too hot. Apart from that: leather is and remains a top natural material, the fixed mesh lining is a climate regulator and the Funky will pleasantly surprise you on many occasions.
The white stripes, the zippers and the use of a number of highly visible push buttons ... this is as much a style choice as anything else. And we're talking less about style here than anything else. The Funky is 'body fit', which amounts to a short motorcycle jacket with some leeway. It doesn't have to feel like a second skin, you can have some breath left and a sweater more or less won't matter.
Impact protection is there too, in the form of OMEGA shoulder protectors and ditto, adjustable, elbow protectors. Fitting a CE-certified back protector is optional, but possible.
It all feels very comfortable, that's an open door. The collar got a neoprene finish, the sleeve ends and waist are adjustable with three snaps and the Funky from Segura is a sturdy one. In a fun way.
Five pockets on the outside, all zippered, provide more storage space than you usually find in a motorcycle jacket of this type. And three more pockets on the inside. All together that results in a CE-certification, and a certification as EN 1621-1: 2013, EN 17092 class AAA - safety material.
Combine it with a good pair of jeans, a café racer and a terrace.
