Segura's Lady Maya is an evolution within the French range, which is usually synonymous with 'an improved version'. And it was already good. Faithful to the military inspiration and the classic style, in a contemporary and functional - excuse me - jacket.
The exterior consists of 'used' Serica. Not unknown, this durable and solid fabric. Those who are familiar with Segura know the preferences and know that a bit of newfangled sense in classic outdoor materials is never far away. The main advantage, however, is in the integrated waterproof membrane. Non-removable, something that can be done with the 90-grams heavy or light thermal lining which functions as a third layer. The combination is suitable for spring, autumn, the better part of winter, the lesser summer days ... a lot of possibilities. Ventilation openings seem to be lacking in that picture, but with a good lining you will come a long way in a breathable textile jacket.
Striking are the elastic inserts at the waist: oversized, but visually correct and above all functional. They increase comfort, create a centered look and reinforce the cut, which is 'body fit': it may be a bit tight. Without exaggerating of course, but a flapping jacket won’t be an option here.
Also notable: the diamond stitching on the shoulders that provides a bit of 'relief', and especially the patch on the right upper arm. You get a number of them, to customize and experiment with yourself.
The tight cut - tailored to the female body - and elastic waist eliminate overly conspicuous customization options. The sleeve ends were given a button and zipper, and that's it.
Impact protection is literally flexible in nature: the adjustable ALPHA shoulder and elbow protectors are anything but hard shells. Those who wish can fit a CE-certified back protector.
Five pockets is what you get. On the outside. Inside we count another four, two of which are inside the thermal lining.
The collar conceals a hood. The combination with a pair of motorcycle jeans is obvious.
There is maintenance clothing and then there is clothing maintenance. Good, solid motorcycle clothing is an investment in comfort and personal safety. So invest in its maintenance after your purchase and enjoy your gear for longer.
We put the best tips & tricks on this maintenance page.
