For that price you can't go wrong, our grandmother used to say, and then you knew it was all right. You can imagine the West-Flemish accent and the 1980's with it, but you don't have to. With the Taylor, Germas delivers a motorcycle jacket for which the following applies: for that price, you can't afford to compromise.
The versatile and waterproof Taylor has touring ambitions, and we can't really argue with that. The outer shell consists of 600D 'Germadura', which is the Taylor's own answer to other, similar, hardwearing materials. More than okay, and that goes for the removable thermal lining as well. Between the two is also an integrated waterproof membrane and then you know immediately that there are already many motorcycle days to be ticked off. Maybe not the hottest, and that's due to the AirVent system with vents at the front and the back. Well, high summer will probably be too much of a good thing, but then we think of nana’s words of wisdom.
Also because Germas - you can also call it GMS - doesn't really make any mistakes. The word 'budget' could be mentioned, but even then, it is mainly in a positive sense. The Taylor has the typical, slightly longer touring cut, completed with a centering belt. The central zipper with cover flap, velcro and sturdy snaps inspires confidence and the adjustment options on the upper arm (velcro) are sufficient.
Winner's CE-certified elbow and shoulder protectors are flexible and lightweight for comfort. A back protector can be fitted by the rider. On the outside everything stays pretty inconspicuous but don't be mistaken: there's quite some reflective material present.
Storage space is sufficient, as long as you don't want to carry a first aid kit and extra batteries for your satellite phone: a large storage pocket on the lower back, two front pockets, two inner pockets in the thermal lining and one in the jacket itself.
A sharp price has to pay off somewhere, so let's be honest: concessions are made. On the other hand, the question is whether you as a motorcyclist really need those seven layers of deep-sea diving gear and sixteen pockets to commute to work in the morning. It's a choice everyone has to make for themselves.
We can say, though, that in the case of this Taylor, the price-quality ratio is correct. And then you can't go wrong.
