Depending on your location, the sun is rarely out of view for over 12 hours per day, so a solar panel can be used in many circumstances. We're primarily thinking of travelling situations, but when the bike is in a garage without a wall socket, you can use this charger as well.
There are many situations in which you will want to recharge your battery.
This is the world's most efficient solar pulse charging system that can save an empty battery and provide safe, long-term maintenance.
CHARGE
Revives empty batteries from as little as 4 volts, thanks to its unique pulse action. Fastest way to charge – due to 'smart charging' that chooses between pulse charging or continuous charging, depending on the strength of the available sunlight. Intelligent maintenance – continues charging the next day if the battery held its charge overnight; if not, the programme moves on to the OPTIMISING step.
MONITOR
Battery status is displayed every 3 seconds. Reports that battery is ready for STD and hi-performance AGM batteries and Lithium LFP batteries. Consumes less than 0.5 mA during monitor mode. Automatically switches to CHARGE when there is sufficient solar energy.
MOUNTING
The OptiMate charge controller is separate from the panel and can be placed close to the vehicle or battery for easy monitoring of battery charging progress and maintenance. The solar panel should be mounted towards direct sunlight. The cables allow a distance between battery and panel of 315 cm (124"). Use OptiMate extension cables O-03 or O-13 to connect the solar panel to the OptiMate charge controller over a longer distance.
ATTENTION
The actual solar panel obviously prefers sunny weather, but it can withstand anything the weather gods have in stock. This does not apply to the controller, which likes to keep things dry. So keep that part out of the rain and snow.
