The Carve Master 3 Lady GORE-TEX® is a motorcycle jacket that was up for its third version. It fits the expansive (and expanding) DAINESE touring range and focuses primarily on the link between a racing-cut-and-style and the versatility you expect from a touring jacket. A strong combination and a rather exceptional one, especially at this level.
Just to be clear: the adjustments that were made with regard to the previous, equally impressive, models are mostly to be found in the details. Yet, also in a tighter (better suited) size table. Moreover, DAINESE is undeniably a racing-house-of-trust, while the Carve Master 3 Lady GORE-TEX® with integrated GORE-TEX® membrane and removable thermal lining, is substantially a true all-rounder. The product of a successful marriage? The DAINESE catchphrase for this jacket ‘Passion doesn’t know bad weather’, explains it all.
Resistant to whatever the universe tries to steer your way, and, a tight cut. Literally, because this ‘Lady’ is the centred, female version of this top-notch motorcycle jacket.
The exterior is still a mixture of Mugello and 3D-Stone, both wear-resistant materials treated to be water-repellent. ‘To repel’ will suffice as first line of defence because included as well is the breathing, waterproof, integrated GORE-TEX® membrane. Non-removable, however, someone with a little racing fever is wearing his possibly perforated leather motorcycle jacket during the summer months anyway. The Carve Master 3 Lady GORE-TEX® is created for those days when passion triumphs over weather. Which doesn’t mean that the ventilation openings (zipper) on chest, arms and back can’t take care of a little cooling during the ride. In that case, you’ll probably remove the thermal lining and don’t forget to tuck away the (separate) thermal collar.
The Carve Master 3 Lady GORE-TEX® is actually a motorcycle jacket for racers, with a weather-resistant upgrade. And it even shows: at the bottom, it looks like part of the touring jacket disguise has been omitted to fit the racing jacket hidden underneath. Even the two bottom pushbuttons seem to be placed closer together. This creates somewhat of an odd first impression but it ensures that your sporty position becomes a lot more practical.
So, a short cut and a whole lot of impact protection. You can probably use the compartment for the CE-certified back protector and the compartments for the double chest protectors to fit the protectors from your leather motorcycle jacket. A sturdy PU-plate with 3D-Stone on the shoulders hints to the real shoulder sliders used on track – with a set of proper elbow and shoulder protectors, you won’t fall short on anything.
For a racing motorcycle jacket, the Carve Master 3 Lady GORE-TEX® seems to have a whole lot of adjustment possibilities, though. An adjustable centering belt with buckle, a drawstring at the base, pushbuttons on upper arms and cuffs, a high and softly finished collar with Velcro strip… Weird things need to happen for this jacket not to fit. The available storage space is also exceptional for a racing jacket. Just like for a touring jacket, actually because with no less than ten proper (discover them yourself) closable full-blown pockets, you probably don’t need to use a backpack anymore. Two outer pockets are even described as ‘waterproof’ by DAINESE. Our experience has taught us to be a little more careful when combining the words ‘pocket’ and ‘waterproof’, especially when these words are placed closely together.
A connecting zipper for the Carve Master motorcycle pants and a healthy yet not excessive dose of reflective material finishes the deal. Not much more is needed to speak of a perfect combination.
The Carve Master 3 Lady GORE-TEX® is without a doubt, even more than its predecessors, a top-quality motorcycle jacket. Specifically designed to offer a very strong all-round alternative to the sporty fan of leather motorcycle jackets. Although the extensive list of properties might as well attract new fans. Admitted, this third version is no landslide compared to its previous models but why would it if the foundation is already that solid.
