’Gonzalez' automatically makes us think of 'Speedy', although these motorcycle gloves seem to be more focused on comfort than performance. Winter motorcycle gloves, with the retro allure we are used to from Segura, from now on we associate 'Gonzales' (note the -s at the end) with warm hands.
The hard-wearing goatskin leather and the waterproof properties of the integrated membrane are a bit overshadowed by the lining, which impresses as soon as you put on the Gonzales. Yet it is the combination that makes this a good choice. Add to this the sufficiently long cuff, and you immediately know that the temperature is good. The cuff itself can be slid under or above the motorcycle jacket by means of velcro. Just below the palm of the hand there is a transverse velcro cuff to keep the glove in the right place.
The accordion pieces on the back of the hand and the diamond stitching on the cuff are a nod to the 'classic' years Segura likes to look back to, but that the Gonzales is sufficiently contemporary is illustrated by the touchscreen-sensitive fingertips. Segura calls it 'Sensor System'.
The knuckle protection is one of the hard plastic kinds. Other than that, these motorcycle gloves feel mostly soft: foam, a layer of extra goat leather, plenty of lining, the diamond stitching, the Gonzales is not a heavy-handed travel companion. Quite the contrary.
Certified as a personal protection equipment, nice and warm without being too thick, with sufficient grip and steering feeling and a long cuff, the Gonzales motorcycle gloves by Segura are absolutely to be considered for those who like the retro-style.
