In an attempt to link a sporty, sharp motorcycle jacket to an innovative airbag system, at a certain point in time, Alpinestars released the ‘Missile Tech-Air motorcycle jacket’ into the world. A smidgin of track for the public roads. It was certainly meritorious but apparently, there was an even higher level to achieve, hence, the Stella Missile V2 with distinct feminine design.
This motorcycle jacket is 100% perfectly compatible with the Tech Air® 5-airbag system. Hitting the streets with motor racing-worthy gear, in other words.
In the land across from the Alps ‘Stella’ is used to indicate that certain motorcycle clothing is developed specifically for lady riders. Alpinestars takes this seriously and strives for a literal and figurative place for the female anatomy.
In this V2-edition, the Stella Missile is manufactured out of a sturdy 1.3mm thick cowhide and that comes as no surprise. Leather is always the best, most wear-resistant option. You just don’t really move around that freely in it. Luckily, Alpinestars have quite the experience in developing excellent to phenomenal motorcycle race gear, so no need to worry. The Italians provide a pre-shaped leather cocoon – in the shape of pants and a jacket – and link everything together with stretch Kevlar®. With that, a lot has been explained in just one sentence already: wearing comfort, sportiness, flexibility, excellent fit and loads of protection, all in one package.
It's obvious that a thoroughbred motor racing jacket in leather holds a number of climatological limitations. A heavy shower won’t be the best possible experience when wearing the Stella Missile V2. This should come as no surprise but we’ll mention it, just for the sake of completeness.
Back to impact protection: this comes straight from the MotoGP, with external sliders on the shoulders and elbows. Or what did you expect? Alpinestars named it DFS, which stands for Dynamic Friction Shield. This is mostly limited to the shoulders but has now been supplemented with the interchangeable elbow sliders. There a large number of protectors underneath all that. By default, Alpinestars opts for Nucleon Flex Pro armor protectors on shoulders and elbows: thin, flexible and comfortable. There are additional options with the Nucleon Plasma back protector (level 2-certified) or Nucleon KR-CELLi back protector (level 1- certified) or Nucleon KR-R CELL back protector (level 2- certified, snap-on system) and/or the Nucleon Flex Pro Ci chest protectors.
The most important reason for existence of this Stella Missile V2 is, however, the preparation for the integration of the Tech Air® 5-airbag system. The Tech-Air® concept is the result of years of research and immeasurable counts of Alpinestars knowledge and knowhow. And actually, also the first real performant airbag jacket without actual connection to the motorbike.
Thanks to the connecting zipper, this motorcycle jacket can be combined effortlessly with a number of motorcycle pants from the Alpinestars range.
