The Missile V2 is a thoroughbred motorcycle racing jacket and is perfectly equipped to integrate the Alpinestars Tech-Air® airbag system. The Missile V2 motorbike pants are equally high-performing motorcycle gear. Together, they form the Missile V2 two-piece suit.
So, a two-piece motorcycle racing suit, where the result is more than the sum of its parts and divisibility is actually its asset. And, it’s a missile. Still with us? Sidenote: There’s also a one-piece Missile V2 racing suit, which is one step up if you are looking for absolute top racing material.
Top-of-the-bill is the preparation for the Tech-Air®-airbag system to integrate into the Missile V2. The Tech-Air® 5 Airbag System is the result of years of research and immeasurable counts of Alpinestars knowledge and knowhow. And actually, also the first real performant airbag jacket without actual connection to the motorbike.
The Missile V2 motorcycle suit is manufactured out of a sturdy 1.3mm thick cowhide and that comes as no surprise. Leather is always the best, most wear-resistant option. You just don’t really move around that freely in it. Luckily, Alpinestars have quite the experience in developing excellent to phenomenal motorcycle race gear, so no need to worry. The Italians provide a pre-shaped leather cocoon – in the shape of pants and a jacket – and link everything together with stretch Kevlar®. With that, a lot has been explained in just one sentence already: wearing comfort, sportiness, flexibility, excellent fit and loads of protection, all in one package. And in two parts.
It's obvious that a thoroughbred motor racing suit, in leather and even when in two pieces, holds a number of climatological limitations. A heavy shower or the extremes when it comes to temperatures, it’s always best to avoid that.
Impact protection comes straight from the MotoGP, with external sliders on the shoulders and elbows. Or what did you expect? Alpinestars named it DFS, which stands for Dynamic Friction Shield. This is mostly limited to the shoulders but has now been supplemented with the interchangeable elbow sliders. The motorcycle pants have the same CE-certification and were developed from different panels that have been linked together with safety seams for extra robustness. The replaceable Alpinestars knee sliders can easily be removed and attached thanks to the Velcro.
Underneath all that, the Missile V2 two-piece motorcycle suit has a lot of protectors stored. By default, Alpinestars opts for level 1 GP-R-protectors on shoulders and elbows. A CE-certified Nucleon Race back protector can be fitted optionally. CE-approved protectors have been placed on the knees. The hip protector is Bio-Flex which all together delivers a firm cocoon of impact protection.
The Missile V2 motorcycle suit has a long connecting zipper which almost turns it in a completely full-worthy motor racing suit. The advantage of a two-piece construction is, though, that you can take any other option into consideration as well.
We recommend regular treatment with a water-repellent maintenance product. This treatment ensures that the jacket does not get wet and also ensures that dirt does not attach to the jacket. For longer-term maintenance, we recommend using a spray for matte leather, so that the leather remains supple.
