Alpinestars at this sharp price? Yes, exactly. The Stella Gravity Drystar® is a very price-conscious and yet versatile, waterproof and multi-purpose motorcycle jacket. It looks simpler than it actually is.
The Stella in the name refers to the specific cut that is tailor-made to the female anatomy. Not a smaller male version for the Italians from the Alps, but this clean-cut ladies’ version.
The chassis – the exterior – consists of 600 Denier polyester with a double layer of polyurethane at the back and a little leather on the shoulders. You’ll easily feel the padding on the latter and the woke motorcyclist will notice: 600D. Not uncommon in the first paragraphs of motorcycle jackets, and with good reason. It is wear- and tear-resistant. A pretty sturdy base, so Alpinestars makes sure there is plenty of it.
Below that, on the shoulders and elbows, there’s impact protection in the form of Nucleon Flex Plus Level 1 Armor. You can optionally add a Nucleon Plasma back protector (level 2-certified) or a Nucleon KR-CELLi back protector (level 1-certified) to that.
Right, back to the exterior and let’s be clear: the Stella Gravity Drystar® is a touring jacket. In cut, in style and in functionality. Three-quarter length, something that can be a little getting used to when coming off the track but Alpinestars rarely drops the ball. Au contraire, the centering straps (velcro) are an added value.
Adding to that, the fact that there is a fixed Drystar®-membrane below all that – breathable and waterproof -, you’ll come pretty close to a proper touring and/or commuter jacket. Versatile too, because with a removable thermal lining and two side-zippers for ventilation, you can literally go anywhere. Weather should be pretty extreme for the Stella Gravity Drystar® not to be kept with both feet solid on the ground.
It's obvious that the Stella Gravity Drystar® motorcycle jacket can be adapted a bit. We’ve mentioned the centering straps and velcro is the option on the sleeve ends and the collar. A proper YKK-waterproof zipper, with cover flap and the pushbuttons on the upper arms are all added values.
Add all that together, combined with a chest pocket, two wide slash pockets, inner pockets, the reflective material on the shoulders, the soft lining of the collar and the connecting zipper and you’ll get a total package that’ll take you a long way. Plus, there’s an impressive logo-with-reputation on it, for something you’ll usually pay a whole lot more.
The Stella Gravity Drystar®, a very successful ride to the best priced piece of the touring segment.
Thanks to the long connecting zipper, any combination with Alpinestars motorcycle pants is quick and easy.
