The HT-5 Heated Drystar®-motorcycle glove has been equipped with Alpinestars’ Heat Tech System, with three heat settings for optimum performance in cold conditions. This is a heated glove – in a very tight model.
The HT-5 is the longer, more traditional version. There is also the HT-3, which is shorter and even tighter, but with the same technology.
The HT-3 (Heat Tech) Heated Drystar®- motorcycle gloves contain a variety of effective protection against almost all weather conditions. The Drystar®-membrane serves as the waterproof buffer. A 80-gr PrimaLoft®-insulation ensures additional heat and effective heat retention, is what they call it. The aim is, to keep the heat in. Meanwhile, the cold can stay out and to bridge the difference, Alpinestars incorporates a battery and some technology.
That heat technology takes away most of the attention, obviously. The 7,4-lithium battery that is required for each glove, is stored in a specific little storage pocket on the inside of the wrist on the outside of the cuff. Alpinestars’ Heat Tech-system consists of a stainless-steel enameled copper-nickel heating wire that – we’ve tested it – runs evenly through the glove and that reaches every finger precisely. You operate the system per motorcycle glove with a practical pushbutton that indicates in three colors how much heat is generated. Holding the button down for three seconds means ‘on’, while a short push switches between the settings.
Alpinestars keep a close eye on the total picture, which delivers a compact motorcycle glove. A glove that allows you to perfectly locate the control buttons and feel how to operate them. The goatskin leather palm for improved tear-resistance and durability has almost become an evident element. Just like the touch screen-compatible fingertips and the knuckle protector.
A USB-C-cable is supplied in order to connect and charge both batteries at the same time. Each motorcycle glove holds one 7,4V-battery, and each glove is operated autonomously on the road.
Mode | Battery life |
---|---|
Highest mode (red) | 120 min |
Lowest mode (yellow) | 240 min |
The cuff of the HT-5 Heated Drystar®-motorcycle glove is wide and covers your wrist, leaving all options open whether to wear it over or underneath the sleeve. Please keep in mind that the battery is also located in the cuff. This can take some getting used to.
Since these gloves contain electronic components, it goes without saying that they cannot be put in the washing machine. A gentle hand wash is possible, provided you dry the connectors with a hair dryer after washing.
