With the Altamira GTX Alpinestars aims at the commuter, the frequent rider and the all-season rider. Demanding riders who want to be technically well-equipped and expect flawless performance of their equipment. In all circumstances.
In that case, a laminated outer shell with GORE-TEX® is certainly not a bad choice. Breathable, light, the best waterproofing solution and also relatively thin and therefore comfortable. There is a lot of visible and invisible technology involved to make it all work, but Alpinestars makes it work. The Altamira GTX is also equipped to fit the Tech-Air® 5 airbag jacket.
But anyway: the exterior. Laminated motorcycle jackets keep the water out - really out - and therefore stay lighter and drier. The downside might be that they also turn out warmer, so Alpinestars provided a solid dose of direct chest ventilation. Not in complete surfaces: that would mean that the extra glove pocket (right) and the chest pocket (left) would have to go. Not so. It provides a lot of storage space and a healthy climate control. The heart of the matter is not to create a mesh summer jacket. The wind from the road finds its way in, also through the sleeves and forearms, where it takes a cutting-edge route before leaving the jacket at the back. A 'PrimaLoft® Black Insulation Eco' removable thermal jacket does the opposite when temperatures drop.
The Altamira GTX is a remarkably thin motorcycle jacket to contain so many qualities. A lot is packed into very little, in other words. This results in a light motorcycle jacket that never bothers. The cut is tailor-made: tight, with the adjustability you'd expect and a bit of slack. It goes without saying that a textile motorcycle jacket does not 'set' as time goes on. A good fit from the get-go is important. At the back, the Altamira GTX is longer to protect your lower back while sitting in the typical motorcycle position. Also notable are the centered elastic bands on each side. They guarantee a tight fit, as they should.
As Tech-Air®-ready as the Altamira GTX is, you can fit the Tech-Air® 5 Airbag jacket. This immediately guarantees perfect protection over your entire upper body. If you want a little less, you can count on the Nucleon Flex Pro armor protectors that surround your shoulders and elbows. A Nucleon Plasma back protector (level 2 certified) or Nucleon KR-CELLi back protector (level 1 certified) and even a Nucleon Flex Pro Ci chest protector can be fitted without a problem.
You can store a lot in a motorcycle jacket of this caliber. There are plenty of pockets and inner pockets. A few of each. Worth mentioning is also the loop to open up the collar. Except on the upper arms (push button) Alpinestars chooses to use a lot of velcro: the central flap, the pockets, the sleeve ends, the collar and the underarms, all make use of it.
The reflective details are just that: details. At least during the day. In the evening and at night they do their job.
With the connection zipper you can combine to your heart's content in the Alpinestars range.
