What a great motorcycle jacket!
With the Boulder GTX we are in a unique position. The absolute topper of the Alpinestars touring collection is a class act. Technically advanced, laminated, a lightweight that's rock solid and equipped to fit the Tech-Air® 5 airbag jacket.
What more could a man want? No clue. We would be very happy with the Boulder GTX. In terms of style and features, this Boulder GTX (stands for GORE-TEX®) is aimed at the adventure-minded touring motorcyclist. They'll go to different places in a wide variety of conditions, ride through the winter, travel, and never be thrown off balance. And with a jacket like this, they don't have to.
The outer shell is actually a complete outer shell consisting of a laminated GORE-TEX® membrane and all the necessary reinforcing materials. For the latter, Superfabric® is integrated, among other things, to provide just about the highest level of abrasion-resistant protection. Wear- and tear-resistant top quality, without drawing the card of the hard outer shell, it comes close to perfection.
Laminated GORE-TEX motorcycle jackets approach the waterproof qualities of the average water bird: ‘like water from a duck’ does apply here, and that means above all that this motorcycle jacket remains light and quick-drying in all conditions. So, you can add 'comfort' to the list of qualities. Also because they thought of good, direct ventilation openings that provide full airflow around the body. Technical tours de force, and that you notice. The panels on the chest can be opened completely - and stay open when you're on the road - which suddenly turns the laminated Boulder into half a summer’s jacket. The removable PrimaLoft® thermal lining takes care of the remaining (winter) months. With a motorcycle jacket in this price range, you could also wear the thermal jacket independently, obviously. That double use has the consequence that you better follow a certain routine when you want to use the Boulder GTX 'full option': put on the thermo lining first, as an (autonomous) extra layer. Then put the motorcycle jacket on top of that. The two are only linked at one point (at the back of the neck), so then it quickly risks becoming a bit awkward.
You can write and talk more about a jacket like the Boulder GTX. But it's better to use it. You'll always do so with pleasure and confidence. A motorcycle jacket like this is not only a technical piece of ART, but also a guarantee for carefree departures. Whatever happens that day, week, month, you're prepared.
It's not surprising that the Boulder GTX fits like a glove. An internal, adjustable waist belt and adjustment options on the sleeves contribute to that. Who strives for the highest degree of protection, should pay attention to that. Alpinestars is also well-experienced in and around the race track, so you know it's a match. Literally.
This motorcycle jacket is Tech-Air®-ready and therefore suitable for the Tech-Air® 5 Airbag System. Nucleon Flex Pro armor on the shoulders and elbows is standard, just like a Nucleon back protector. Only the chest protectors are optional. The Boulder is a CE certified AA class.
You get a range of storage pockets, with the large storage compartment on the back standing out. Valuable stuff is best to keep close to the heart. As is often the case in this category of top-of-the-range jackets, it's the small details that make for the most conspicuous pleasures: a magnetic front and bottom closure make for quick and easy closure. You can fit a hydration pack in. Ventilation is top. The waterproofing is top. The autonomous thermal jacket is top. Well.
Multiple reflective details and a connecting zipper complete the picture.
