The Heat Tech Vest derives its name from the Alpinestars Heat Tech System. This smart, double system can be operated manually with an LED button, with three pre-set temperature settings. There’s also an automatic option, which uses a temperature sensor inside the vest that continuously checks the mercury (not real mercury, don’t worry) to see if it maintains the pre-set temperature. Otherwise, it will automatically adjust through the Alpinestars Heat Tech App on your smartphone. This connection is established with Bluetooth. So, this means that you – the motorcycle rider – decide the temperature you arrive in. Always.
The Heat Tech Vest by Alpinestars needs a reliable energy source for that. Again, there are two options: through the battery of the bike, or, with the powerful – and supplied – 12V lithium battery, to be sure of a dependable power supply on the road.
Practically, it sorts itself out. It’s not really possible to wear the vest ‘wrong’: the heating elements on the chest, lower back and in the neck ensure an equal and complete ‘heating’ that manages to keep your entire upper body at temperature. In the back, you notice that the cut is longer to always be protected, even in the typical riding position on the motorbike.
The Heat Tech Vest itself is made up of stretching polyester. The asymmetrical central zipper (so actually not central, but still good) has been positioned to easily fit underneath extra layers or motorcycle jackets. You store the lithium battery in the bottom right compartment. The on/off button can be located there as well, all the way at the bottom.
