Our first observation: at this price there aren’t many shoe stores where you can walk out with a complete pair. These motorcycle shoes are waterproof and combine a more than decent quality to an impressive price.
The Kumani WP – the latter stands for ‘waterproof’ – is a motorbike shoe of ankle-height that gives the impression of being sporty underneath all that black leather, textile and PU. Tight lines, low weight, pleasant to be in all day and should a ball pass your feet, you’d probably be able to pass it back, even in the right direction. So, full-blown motorcycle gear with a relatively wear-resistant exterior and a lace fastening that can be tucked away underneath a layer of Velcro at the top. This prevents lace loops from catching shift or brake levers. There is no zipper, but there is a pull tab in the back.
In the front, the Kumani WP is finished higher than in the back. Your Achilles tendon will thank you, mostly when you decide to leave your bike for a while and head out on foot. No problem at all in these comfortable motorcycle shoes, which makes them an interesting commuting option or impressive summer alternative. Even a little water won’t hurt, because the Kumani WP has an incorporated waterproof Hipora membrane. Modeka loves to add this option in this context.
In light of the water-repellent qualities, we’d like to add a few sidenotes: the back of the Kumani is 14cm high, the front adds up to 20cm but splashing water will take every opportunity it gets. Especially right behind the front wheel of a motorcycle. These are still motorbike shoes, not adventure boots.
It’s not like they don’t carry enough impact protection either, compared to some of their higher colleagues. An ankle cup and a reinforced toe with a sturdy heel together with the rubber sole create a safe environment for your feet.
Conclusion: strong motorbike shoes, water-repellent qualities, comfortable to wear and all this for only 50 euro per shoe.
The cowskin on the nose of the shoe serves as a first gear lever protector.
