The Missile V3 is ‘Version 3’ of the Missile, that was already pretty good. Which can also be said of the V2, by the way. The continuance of this pedigree translates primarily to having a new fit with the corresponding freedom of movement, although we can’t forget to mention the new Tech-Air® 10 Airbag System.
Visually, everything has gone up a notch with regard to sportiness, even though its predecessor didn’t hide the fact that they were pre-shaped sporty racing trousers. The new ‘High-Flex’-design provides comfort in just about every area. The Missile V3 follows the contours of the knee, while elaborate stretch panels on the calves and in the groin area ensure a better fit and comfort. The strategically placed ventilation on the thighs is part of the update.
More than enough difference to differentiate between what is and what was, although someone familiar with the Missile range won’t have to adjust for long. Alpinestars has earned more than its fair share of proverbial racing stripes, so for racing trousers, this is the place to be. Made of the very durable full-grain leather, with reinforcements in the vulnerable areas that significantly increase the life expectancy of these trousers. Stretch fabric on the inside of the knees and in the groin area enhance flexibility. Accordion panels above the knee obviously add to that as well. The washable net lining with stretch panels gives more comfort and a lot of freedom to move. Pre-shaped racing trousers will always be tight but the Missile V3 motorbike trousers give you a lot of room to play.
The motorcycle trousers are CE-approved and composed of different panels that have been set together with safety seams for additional wear-resistance. The replaceable Alpinestars knee sliders can be attached quickly and easily with Velcro. There are CE-approved protectors on the knees. Bio-Flex hip protection is included. GP-R Lite internal protection on the knee seals the deal.
The back is finished higher than the front, which is closed off with a zipper, a push button and a slider. This slider makes sure the trousers don’t come undone by themselves. You can adjust the waist by a couple of centimetres with two Velcro straps. The trouser legs have a side zipper at the bottom, reaching halfway up your calves, which effectively facilitates stepping into them.
Supple, flexible and optimally equipped, these are racing trousers as you would expect from a quality manufacturer.
The Missile V3 has a long connecting zipper which allows them to be paired with all leather Alpinestars jackets. The zipper is complete, which means that the other, loose end can be sewn into a jacket of your liking.
The Missile V3 is a parade horse which is available (only in black) in a long and shorter version. Besides that, Alpinestars has manufactured a lady’s version, easily recognisable by the ‘Stella’ in the name.
