This helmet comes standard with a clear visor. Tinted and mirrored visors are available as options.
With the EXO-HX1 Scorpion aims to reach many different types of motor helmet wearers and many different types of motor helmets. Not because they can’t figure out which style to go for, but because it is fun to have options. And to keep those options.
Above all, the Scorpion EXO-HX1 is a full-face helmet. Solid, one cast and compact. Done. However, even a full-face helmet can take on many different facades: a cross helmet is a full-face helmet, a touring helmet can be a full-face helmet, a racing helmet certainly is a full-face helmet. Strictly speaking, the helmets that pilots wear are also full-face helmets, which in certain settings can be recognized in the Scorpion EXO-HX1.
Scorpion themselves suggest three styles: the cross helmet, the - traditional – sporty full-face helmet and the trendy pilot style helmet for the riders of café racers or trendy terrace occupants. You decide which hat to wear each day: the Scorpion EXO-HX1 is a smooth and fast guy who adapts to every circumstance. It’s compact too, with an outer shell made of Ultra TCT carbon. That lightweight, strong fiberglass material translates to about 1350 grams on the scales, which is very acceptable counting all the featured components. Two helmet shells accommodate all helmet sizes, so compact is a given.
Chin and top ventilation ensure a constant flow of fresh air. There is an outlet at the back of the helmet, to make sure hot air can escape.
The EXO-HX1 is delivered with a bucketload of extras. First of all, two visors. Or close to two visors: besides the transparent anti-scratch visor, there is also the integrated sun visor. Add to that the Pinlock®-lens and you are certain that you have all the standard options. By the way, the sun visor is one that simply flips ‘up and down’.
Another extra, which makes the Scorpion EXO-HX1 unique, are the peak and the attachment to give the (meshed) chin ventilation a more classical appearance. This is what it all adds up to: with peak, sun visor and mesh chin guard, this is a cross helmet. Without visor or peak and with the chin attachment, it’s a retro helmet. With the clear visor, without peak, you have a full-face helmet. This versatility (with a little goodwill, this helmet is a 3-in-1) is without a doubt a big fat plus.
Apart from those external extras, we expect nothing less than an excellent helmet from Scorpion. The inner lining is made of Kwikwick III and is removable and washable, hypo-allergenic and soft. Good to know is that the EXO-HX1 has cut-outs for your glasses. The chin strap is adjustable and equipped with a micrometric quick-release.
For maintenance of this helmet we recommend S100 helmet and visor cleaner for the outside. For cleaning the interior, without removing it, you can use S100 helmet interior cleaner. New visors have received a water-repellent treatment. This treatment is less effective after some time. Restore the water-repellent effect with Rain-X anti-rain spray.
Safety above all! Never ride with a scratched or dull visor. Especially at night, scratches cause blinding reflections from streetlights and headlights of oncoming vehicles. This effect is even more pronounced in rainy weather. It is best to replace a scratched or dull visor as soon as possible. Planning a longer trip? Then don't forget to take a replacement visor with you. Never ride in the dark with a tinted visor.
